I can't elicit a crash from any of the files I was testing with, so it looks good.
skipping still seems much improved as well, though I think some of the past skipping issues were worse on some files than others. so far I've not been able to re-produce 3 symptoms previously discussed:
1. video stuck after a skip, takes another skip to get it going again
2. video goes to choppy slow-motion playback after a skip, takes another skip to return to normal
3. long delay (1-2 seconds) after a skip before video resumes
again, these are symptoms I had in the past that have NOT occurred with 2.2.6 so far, though I've only tested with a handful of recordings. the proof will come over the next week as we watch our usual schedule of shows.
is the patch above the final fix, or does that have some code disabled that you now need to debug?

Good.

Yes, its a final fix. In the patch I reenabled the code I'd previously disabled. I've also rolled it into the NPVRSetup_2_2_6.exe, and updated it on the server so users yet to install 2.2.6 wont have to encounter the problem and find the patch.
