wtg Wrote:sub, any thoughts on the problem in the OP? As you can see above, there were no errors in the log and the second "Modern Family" recording got created on time and writing continued until the end, but only video from the post-padding time ended up in the file.
I'm not really sure.

Are you able to find a scenario that reproduces the problem? If so I could add some extra logging to help work out what is happening.

The odd one look like the faked recordings to "reserve" the tuner, the two episodes of Family Guy look like they should be back to back. The main issue is that Family Guy should have started at 18:59 on tuner1 with full padding instead it started on tuner0 with no padding because of the padding conflict. The second Family Guy should also have started on tuner1 but it bumped tuner0 too. There is a test recording of Family guy showing it recording on tuner1 so it is available there.

I found why it didnt move the 7pm family guy episode. The logic favors using the same tuner for back-to-back recordings on same channel, since the majority of users use digital devices and are able to make use of multi-record to get padding with both recordings.

I've made a change to the logic for the next release that should help.

Still trying to reproduce my original problem, but one I have had no trouble reproducing is that the tuner active lights stay on after a recording completes. The recording finishes successfully and the tuner is actually available for use by NextPVR or even WMC, but the light stays lit.

It's not a big deal obviously since the tuner isn't really in use, but there is something funny going on because the tuner lights do turn off when WMC stops using them.

That's interesting. I'm definitely not seeing that behavior. Did you run the firmware upgrade (to 20110830 firmware) for the DCR-2650? Also, if you open a browser and go to the DCR-2650 management page (http://192.168.140.209 for me, I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone), and go to the Status Menu and then select the Tuner 0 or Tuner 1 item, does it show that the Streaming Rate is 0 or something higher? I HAVE seen cases where one of the tuners will still be "tuned" to a channel after recording, but the Streaming Rate is 0 and the light is off. I'm only seeing the lights being on when the DCR is actually streaming data.

I'm running the latest firmware from both SiliconDust and Hauppauge. Ater the recordings stop, the tuners still show they are active on the status page and it till shows a streaming rate too. After tuning it via WMC and then cancelling it, the streaming rate drops to 0.

I dont have one to test with here, so obviously I cant look at the look at the lights, but I'm pretty sure the app is already doing everything it should need to. WMC and NextPVR use different mechanism to talk to the device, so it possible there is some slight difference in behaviour between the two.

I'm guessing the light being left on is purely cosmetic, and wont have any effect on things working. You could try the attach though, which explicitly tells the device that it's no longer using it (even though the docs say closing the connection is enough).

Can you post the text from error message, along with the npvr.log?

FYI - It seems to be working OK for me.
