I don't think that it is a signal strength or network problem because it never gets so far as to even send the tuning request to the DCR-2650. Also, the channel works just fine in WMC.

However, I have been testing some more this morning. It appears that the problem is specifically related to attempting to record from channel 829. In my NPVR database, I have it named to match the Schedules Direct name of AETVHD. However, in the "name" that comes from the cable company, it is labeled "A&E HD". I'm guessing that somewhere in the NPVR code it has that name from the cable company in xml and the "&" character isn't properly coded for xml. I'm attached a copy of npvr.db3 file.

Sub,

Any thoughts on this theory? Or is there something else that I should try to do to get you info to determine why NPVR won't record channel 829?

An ampersand in the channel name could cause problems for the DCR-2650. In the attached patch it correctly escapes the channel name when it creates the channel name.

You'd need to delete then channel, then go rescan for it to recreate it. You'd probably need to uncheck all the other channels in the scan results, and just check the channel to recreate.

OK, I did this. Is there an easy way to unselect all of the scan result channels? If not, can you add one for the future?

This fix appears to have solved this problem. Thanks.

From memory, you can right click then use the context menu options.

While technically it might be possible to come up with something for padding with back-to-back-on-same-channel, its unlikely this will happen, since it would require quite a few changes to the rules with which tuners currently operate, would be difficult with the way the HDHR network interface works, and potentially changes to the scheduler to favor tuner selection to support this. ie, a large amount of work for a scenario for a very small number users with a very limited situation. I'm not saying definitely no, but not likely to happen any time soon.

+1 for a request for this. It would be a big advantage over WMC7.
