Hi Sub,

I just installed NPVR 2.2.6 with Win7 and its outstanding. I am using 4 tuners (2 x 2250) and the channel setup was easy. My Schedules Direct EPG is working and the TV Guide is populated. (For some reason I could not get this working with the last 2 versions).

I only need to set up a few more things before I can let go of GB:
1) a commercial skipping function (like Comskip) and,
2) some way to preview the QAM channels so I can map them.

I don't see these functions in the menus or described in the Wiki. Are they available?

Thanks for all your work,

em

Comskip can be run from PostProcessing.bat or ParalellProcessing.bat (in the Scripts folder) just as with GBPVR.

If you've got comskip files, then it'll use them during playback in exactly the same way as GBPVR did. To generate comskip files, you'll just need to a PostProcessing.bat or ParallelProcess.bat that runs comskip. A forums search should turn up a few examples of this. Shout out if you dont find anything though.

GBPVR and NextPVR work quite differently in this respect. In GBPVR you needed to map any channels before you could use them. In NextPVR you dont have to do this. Instead, just enable all the clear QAM channels found at scan time, and they should be useable. As a later, unrelated activity, you can associate them with a different EPG source. To do this, when you're watching 'live tv' and know what the channel is, simply right click and select 'Set Channel EPG Source'.

Sub and Reddwarf,

Thanks for your quick replys. I'll work on this some more.
I pointed NPVR at my older GB recording directory, but it doesn't seem to be reading the text files from Comskip. Is there some place to enable skipping like in the GB config menu?

thanks again,

No, you shouldnt have to do anything. Try playing one of these files, then post the npvr.log and I'll take a look.

OK, I played "Judge Judy" which was recorded earlier by NPVR. The text file was generated normally by Comskip, but no commercials were skipped. The video is actually a ts file, but I get the same result with mpg's. Here are the logs:

Do you have comskip .edl files, or something else? I cant see any sign of it finding edl files in your npvr.log

No, edl was disabled in the Comskip.ini file. I'll enable it and retest. Do I need edlx or anything else?

I have no idea what edlx is. If you generate edl files though, then NextPVR should work fine with them.
