Hello... I have an ati wonder 650 and am experiencing problems. I have tried all that I have read in this forum with no luck.

I am attaching a .zip file which contains the following:
- analogdevices.xml which I edited
- filtercheck.log
- NPVR.log
- Settings.jpg (snapshot of settings menu trying to add channels)
- SoftPVR folder.jpg (snapshot of explorer showing contents of softPVR folder)

I am very intrigued by this program and how it may work with my Roku media player. I am now at my wits end and need help!

Many thanx, Greg

moved your post to a new thread. resurrecting an old thread is rarely useful.

second, you haven't really said what problems you're having, or what you're trying to do.

you did leave the closing '>' off your new analogdevices.xml entry, that can't make things work well.

Thanks for the reply and moving the post. The problem is that I am unable to add any channels as if my tuner isn't recognized. I receive an error stating "Unable to start device, Device failed to start". This is shown on the settings.jpg screen shot. I have tried many edits with the analogdevices.xml file. I closed off the entry in the last edit, tried again and no luck.

I am unsure if I need the analog abilities, but was something to try. Also, I have updated with the R1 patch.

are you trying to do analog or digital?

If you are trying to tune channels using an antenna, you do not need to do anything with AnalogDevices.xml or SoftPVR. All broadcast stations in the US are now digital and your digital tuner appears in the list but does not respond to the program's requests. You can try updating your drivers for the 650 Pro.

If you are trying to tune analog cable (some companies still have it), you need to register the mux filter (try running the bat file "As Administrator"):
Code:
2011-09-11 18:16:21.484    [DEBUG][1]    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus
2011-09-11 18:16:21.484    [DEBUG][1]    MainConcept mux not present. Disabling analog support.
Then add this to AnalogDevices.xml:
Code:
    <Device filter="ATI AVStream Analog Capture">
        <Name>ATI 650 Pro</Name>
        <Type>SOFT_ENCODE</Type>
    </Device>
If it doesn't work, place it as the last entry in AnalogDevices.xml or remove the following entry:

Code:
    <Device filter="ATI AVStream Analog Capture">
        <Name>ATI 550 Pro</Name>
        <Type>HARD_ENCODE</Type>
        <FilterEncoder>ATI AVStream Analog Capture</FilterEncoder>
    </Device>

the 650 has a hardware encoder, unless we've determined at some point that it doesn't work with npvr

His filtercheck.log showed no filters listed under the AM_KSCATEGORY_ENCODER

that's the one that lists the hardware encoder under mux devices...[he had to make a special filterdetect.exe for it even..]
it should work, i have a 650 that i tried on earlier version and it worked fine..

My current connections and future plans:

Connections
- currently using a Time Warner Cable Connection w/o converter box on PC, which gives approx 80 channels
- WMC works fine
- Main TV area with Time Warner HD cable box
- One Roku box in master bedroom with Time Warner HD cable box
- Guest Bedroom with cable hookup, no box (aprox 80 channels)
- Have outdoor cam monitoring neighbors activities (whole nother story). Connected to PC composite in dongle
- Can only view cable stations thru WMC, or outdoor cam thru Debut software. One tuner, one output.. I understand that!
- Cannot get any stations thru NVPR. I have latest ATI Catalyst drivers installed.

Plans
- Ditching Time Warner cable
- Utilizing Roku boxes on 3 TV's for Netflix, etc...
- Setting up whole house outdoor HD antennae
- Having a way to record over the air HD programs and share throughout my TV's

Questions
- To purchase another tuner card for this or the wife's PC to allow 2 signal inputs
- To look into purchasing a hardware based unit to record and share recorded TV programs. I have a DLink media player on main theater system, and used PlayOn server software. Have been very disappointed in it's performance. Gathering dust! The Wii on main system with PlayOn works better, but still clunky. PlayOn on Roku sux too!

Wishes
- To get NextPVR to function correctly with my ATI Wonder 650 card on the PC
- After that to test how the software works via Roku
- Record Live broadcasts and share through the network
- Roku NextPVR to function as it does on the PC, radio tuner, network media access, etc...

I apologize for opening a whole can of worms, but I am trying to find a solution, and save some monthly fees. Am tired of getting raped by big business! I will re-read prior posts and see if I can figure something to try. Am getting the impression that I do not need to mess with analog, especially if I move to an HD antennae.

Attached are the most recent filtercheck and npvr log files. Many thanx to all!!
