Just wondering - I see the last update from 8/2011. Welcome back to me...

Thinking finally with some google tv enabled devices and what not I might actually want to finally take the time to resurrect my GBPVR/NPVR setup to centralize a video on demand local streaming facility. Where GTV seems to be a nice missing link (path of least resistance) from what I wanted to build and didn't have the time or energy to do a year or so back (i.e. dedicated streaming clients on each TV)

Yes, still alive and well. I typically do 3 or 4 releases a year. Next release has been in testing a while now, and pretty much ready for release in the next couple of days.

@johnnysocko, make sure you do some research before purchasing the GoogleTV devices. Some like the Logitech device won't even play the mpeg-2 video that NextPVR captures. The "TV" part of the name doesn't really apply to the files it can play.

Hello everyone, hope all has had a good holiday season!

I have kept my mouth shut and have been patiently waiting for the next release. I do hope that many of the problems that I have with the program may be resolved, or at the very least be addressable as updates. Under recommendations, I am running R2 with the R1 unmanaged.dll file. It worked well at first in dealing with the pause/ff problems that I was facing, but that quickly diminished.

My scenario now is that:
- I am able to record scheduled shows flawlessly. Have abandoned comskip as more problems.
- Am using NEWA and VLC to review and watch recordings.
- Reverting to the tv tuner to watch live tv.
- Have abandoned hope of viewing recordings via the Roku box in master bedroom. Conversion process not happy!
- Am unable to use npvr to view recordings or live tv dealing with latency issues.
- Have music box and most plug ins working well.

I am curious as to whether I may be dealing with a hardware/os issue. I have a fresh install of Vista32 and npvr on the htpc. 2gb ram, new audio and video cards, amd 3500+ cpu, but a measly older 170gb hard drive. I am sure a faster sata hd would help, and have always hated Vista. Could upgrade the drive, and go Win7-64, but takes a few bucks and much time to start over! I have not attempted to save recordings on my NAS drive tied to the router.

Any opinions are welcome. Currently I am needing some stability, and wish to have npvr govern my entire htpc interface. The wife is fairly patient so I am lucky in that regard.

For comparison, I use Vista32, 2GB RAM and 250GB drive for live tv and have no issues with liveTV and recording using my lowend C2D CPU is probably the only difference but I only have an IGP so your video card probably evens it up.

I do prefer watching with my NMT though, it provide a STB feel to the playback, although if you use VLC for playback that probably isn't a real concern for you.

I ran npvr rock solid with vista 32, 2 gb ddr2 and a dual core basic AMD chip with a $65 HDMI out Asus motherboard, pata drive. Comskip, live tv, NMT streaming, etc all worked. W7 is easier with no codec issues, but a cheap vista setup will work just fine. Sounds like your components just don't play nice together. Sorry you are having such a hard time.

I'm probably asking about stuff you have already covered on the forums alread, but what issues?
My NPVR is nearly rock solid.
It did Blue Screen when watching a recording last night (and does bluescreen occasionally, but never figured out what driver caused it)

I watch my recordings on a P4 3 GHz using Win7 32 Bit, it's got an AGP4x ATI HD2600 video card - so hardly a stellar performer, but 1080i h264 is not an issue.

What exactly happens when you try to watch live tv & recordings through NextPVR front end?

edit: maybe this should be (another) new thread.

Issues are choppy video, audio, long latency periods whether live tv or recordings....

The htpc and receiver/amp is in an enclosed cabinet with venting through the back... Heat could be an issue which would definitely add to instability. I will toss in a monitoring app to monitor my cpu core temp and how it may fluctuate.. btw, that would be a great addition to the system plug in!

I only run r1 updates
Xp on one machine windows 7 on all others all machines run fine
Remove all of r2 pack and run r1
To fix ff issues edit the Config.XML file works great ( trial and error to how big you want the skip)
Turn Off all extra crap in video card settings
Can you add more ram to your machine ?
