Hi all...

As some of u may know I have had problems with this program, but believe that it is pretty kick ass!

I have upgraded my hardware and the system is very fast. I wish to take one step at a time and I will address one issue at a time till they are resolved.

I have installed fresh os, win7-64, updated all appropriate files, have 3gb ram, half tb sata drive, latest but not best audio and video cards.

Have installed latest version of npvr and was able to copy over old database and convert to recognize tuner and channels. I could not use the old config.xml file nor use previous plug ins. I am close to starting over so one problem at a time! One previous problem was choppy video with live tv, but with new setup the program runs smooth. Problem is no audio. I have mapped my music and audio works fine with it. Any ideas?

You're telling, that you have setup a fresh Win 7 64-Bit installation.

Ok, i think you have installed at least one splitter (haali media splitter, LAV Filter) and decoders like ffdshow, SAF6 etc. pp.
The question is: Which decoders have you choosed for your setup? Could you make a screenshot of the settingspage within npvr?
The next question were: Have you tweaked windows to use other decoders than the microsoft ones? Out of the box the microsoft decoders have EVERYTIME the highest priority because they're based on the new "windows media foundation" which was introduced with windows 7.
Other decoders are directshow filters which have to be enabled seperately with a tool like http://www.codecguide.com/windows7_prefe...weaker.htm

At least one hint: The Microsoft DTV Decoder will not decode ac3 audio for 3rd party applications like NextPVR.
You like nPVR? Then please help pay the bills, and keep the project alive!

My happy NextPVR family

You might need to install an AC3 decoder; the audio decoder that comes with Win7 does not work for 3rd party apps like NPVR for AC3 audio. US HDTV uses AC3 audio. You could try AC3 Filter, it works fine for me.

If it's only live TV with the audio problem, and not recordings of the _same_ channel, then you definitely need to post logs to see what decoders are being used.

I have not installed any other filters/decoders since the fresh install. Recommendations on next step? SAF?

I love SAF and hoborg supprt, but for now would not recommend it. You need to get to bottom of issue. LOGS! May give an idea of what is going on Wink

Log files

NextPVR records everything it does to .log files, these can be found in the NextPVR data directory in the subfolder Logs. It can be useful to zip and attach a recent set of these logs when requesting support in the forums.

OK admittedly not written up totally brilliantly at the moment but the info is there. Users like you can help make it better Big Grin

With W7 I would NOT install ANY codec packs this early in the game. You will need AC3 filter and that should be it. Do this first, before you start adding more codecs. W7 has most of what you need for a US system for recording a playback.
