Close NextPVR while running Custom Task

Thanks imiline! Here's the batch file I'm using based on your example.

Assuming PDVD8 is the same as version 7 that I used to run, you should be able to give it a drive letter ( eg D: ) at the end of the call to it to get it to automatically start playing the disc too.

And so the nasty little command window for the batch file is not visible I also created a shortcut to the bat file (with run minimizes option set), and then added a NPVR menu item to launch the shortcut:

I've actually got an ancient Java program I wrote that makes the window completely invisible (that I keep meaning to update to C#), but others have done something similar. It's been discussed in previous threads too. I've not tried it, but a quick search turned up this: http://www.joeware.net/freetools/tools/quiet/index.htm

I've been using the bat from from post #10 for a while now and it works well. There's just 2 things that annoy me with it:
1. Power DVD doesn't hide the mouse cursor automatically for me so I have to get off the sofa and move it off the screen.
2. The bat file resumes NextPVR on quitting PowerDVD but it doesn't have the focus. This means I have to leave the sofa again!

Is there any solutions to these problems? I'm open to alternative scripting technologies - I can't believe that the bat file is still a good way to script stuff in 2012!

You of all people should know: google is your friend

2. running npvr when it's already running gives it focus. double call? The small app mentioned in the link above, also as parameters to bring windows to front and/or give it focus.

As far as alternatives, windows scripting as been around since 98, and powershell seems powerfull enough. Not really sure if any of those are able to run "invisible" to the user. Also not sure, if they're all that different from the .bat variety (for your specific use).

Try a nextpvr.exe -ontop to (hopefully) insist on focus when returning to it.

I use irsuite and hip. To get GBPVR (really) back in focus I have the "play" button and "back" button to move the cursor to the top right then left mouse click when nothing is in focus. This only works if it's in full screen mode.

Here's the updated batch file. Very pleased with it It now hides the mouse on stating PowerDVD and restores focus o NextPVR on resume.
