I need a new channel changer

When I built my new pvr, I ordered a MCE Remote Control. The IR package was appearently defective as I could not make it work on either my Cable box or Directv box in MCE 2005 or in GB-PVR. It would cost more to send it back than it is worth. Can someone suggest a replacement USB IR receiver that works on most boxes.

I like the MCE control so I want to keep it.

On a side note, doesn't the vendor cover the shipping charges when what they sent you is defect?

They only cover the cost one way. I have to ship it to them and then they pay the shipping back. I would also have to send back the remote that was part of the package as well as the IR sensor and the thing that you put in front of the vcr. The IR sensor works to control the PVR but the function where it generates the codes for the cable box does not. The problem is appearently in the sensor since I had another plugin and it did not work either.
I have seen IR blasters advertised and other sensors that say they come with a disk of drivers. The one that came with the control is a no name made in china so I thought I might replace it with one that might be able to be updated with software.
