If press skip back when this is happening, does the breakup problem persist?

Yes, it seems to, if it doesn't crash. On 480p which doesn't crash it is very clean after the skip and the 4:3 is immediate on a skip back.

Yes great, that seems to fix it the video.

The 16:9 > 4:3 transition can still take 20+ seconds unless I skip forward (which is actually backwards because I am near the end) which seems to trigger the change immediately). Here I waited 10 seconds as 16:9 hit ctrl-right and zap 4:3

Just 4:3 live tv from the HDPVR. On recordings it is immediate.
