Hi, I've had this problem for a couple of years - my recordings of a couple of channels (mostly Prime), and indeed live playback, are almost always jumpy. More specifically during playback it seems the system loses its position in the file, sometimes jumping forward several minutes or getting pretty screwed up... while during live tv it often freezes, sometimes managing to resync, sometimes not (and locking up - escape back to the guide is usually possible).
I've often been suspicious of my signal on the Prime frequency... even though I am in Wgtn with direct line-of-sight of Kaukau and all TVNZ channels are good. I'm sure I've raised this issue before (but never got to the bottom of it).
Anyhoo, I'm willing to ignore live TV if I can get reliable playback of recordings. I've found that whenever I have a bad recording off Prime (most of them), I can always play the .ts file without a problem (i.e it is smooth) in VLC. So is there any way that I can tell NPVR to use whatever decoder and/or renderer that VLC uses??
BTW I updated to the latest Saf6 a few days ago and there's no improvement. Sorry I'm not at home at the moment so can't tell you my exact combo of decoders/renderers, but it's all pretty standard and I've never found a combo that works better than what I currently have.
I also updated to 2.3.6 (and subsequent patches) some time ago, and I must say it's been 100% reliable for me in terms of not crashing or missing recordings (which used to happen to me a bit), so excellent work there sub, many thanks!!
TIA, TL
