Was running WMC as a test. Was easy to set up and worked okay. I removed it in favor of NextPRV. I'm having some difficulty getting it set up.

I have seen references to "log files" here on the forum. Where are they located?

For some reason when running the setup within NPVR, under devices, I show 3 tuners. All three are listed as "Enabled". But all three are also listed as "NOT Present" ?? If they are not present, how can they be enabled? Well I guess something isn't correct. Also there are no channels present.

I un-installed Windows Media Center, which was working okay. Then tried to install NPVR. During installing, there are no errors or signs of any problems.

Perhaps someone can point me to some area specifically involving NPVR installing, with HDHR Prime.

Cox Cable says my cable card is still activated.

Running: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, all the required hardware.

My home theater is still running an old (11 years old) Beyond TV HTPC. I've been looking for a BTV replacement mostly because of the lack of cable card support (which I will need as my Cox analog service is soon to go away). When I heard about NPVR working with the HDHR Prime I was pretty excited. But after a few days of frustration, there's still no joy.

As mentioned in the sticky thread, you can find the logs in C:\users\public\npvr\logs

I'd like to see the npvr.log from a clean setup. Try running "nextpvr.exe -emptydb", then view the Settings->Devices screen, then post the npvr.log.

Do you have the SiliconDust software installed, and can it scan the channels? It needs to be for NextPVR to function correctly with an HDHomeRun Prime.

Thanks for the info. I should have browsed the "stickies" before posting. I found the log and I believe I found the problem. The tuners seemed to have lost their "activation". They were working fine just prior to my setting up NPVR. However we did have a cable service interruption two days ago and I'm wondering if that scrambled something. I also have a 2 tuner HDHR (running clear QAM in the BTV server) and that wasn't affected. I'm wondering if my removing WMC negated the HDHR Prime activation? Tomorrow I'll call in and have the activation re-set. Thanks for the swift service. Now only if my cable provider had service like this. <grin>

Had multiple problems. First, the first tech support for Cox cable said my cable card was activated. But still no joy. Called Cox and got another tech who knew what he was doing. Said my cable card was NOT activated. He did so and I now can scan my channels etc. within the HDHR Prime utilities. However NPVR is still saying the cable card is okay but not present. I've attached the most recent log. It looks like a filter problem. Some notes. I do not have the dot.net vers 2 runtime. Only .net 4. I cannot get the MS .net 2 run time to install. Is NPVR able to run in a 64-bit system ??

Do you have this file on your machine - 'C:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe'? ie, that exact drive and directory?

Ah ... Got the file but not in that folder .. Originally the HD Prime stuff got installed in the D:\Programs folder. (where it was originally installed with Windows Media Player) Perhaps I should blow away the HDHR Prime install and re-install it so the default drive is C:\? This "test" PC I'm working with has a small solid state C: drive, and most of the programs are installed onto another physical HD D:\. Just trying to keep the C: drive as empty as possible.

If I remove and re-install the HDHR setup to it's default drive and settings, will I also have to re-install NPVR ?

It was originally coded for testing to looking for that specific filename, but I never got around to going back and making it configurable. It never caused a problem since most people have it in that directory anyway.

You can probably copy just that file into that directory.

It was easy enough to reset everything to the normal installation parameters. Once I did that things started working. I have the tuners showing up in NPVR. Just now going through the configuration. I might have a problem with the EPG as I'm not able to get anything to show up. (no guide data). I also might have a problem concerning the Recording Service. (trying to view a channel live gives me "Unable to communicate with the recording service"). Let me look around the log and see what's not working. I think I'm getting close <grin>

What EPG source are you using? They dont typically broadcast any usable EPG in the US, so you'd have to be using either xmltv or Schedules Direct.

I thought I read somewhere here in the forum where there was a way to obtain a free EPG that could be used with NPVR. If not, it's no problem. I'll look into importing an xmltv file or try the Schedules Direct. I'll check that out tomorrow. Thanks for the help ..
