The link for DVBGuide seems to be pointing to the wrong thread. In this case it is pointing to a thread for 'EPG updates overlapping and overwriting'...

Smile

Great work on this thread, by the way. Nice to see it is kept up to date.

cheers

oh, I see, I made an error shortening the link; that post keeps bouncing off the 10,000 character limit, so I have to hand-shorten all the URL's. I've updated the link, thanks for the info and compliment.

May I suggest having just links to the the info that is available on the wiki. Might help with the character limit as well as keeping info in one place and updated.

But that will not give any patches...

agreed, I do need to re-write that post some, and make more reference to the wiki; for the past bunch of releases I've just been copying it whole from the previous version of the sticky. For example, the section on Analog devices could literally just point to the wiki, likewise the section on scripts. some of this info was here to fill in while the wiki caught up, but it's clearly become redundant.

There will be no cumulative patch for this release, for several reasons:

1) 'out of the box' v2.4.3 is pretty great and doesn't need much patching. this is no surprise as it was mostly meant to introduce NPVRTSReader2 which was extensively tested and debuged via the infamous 2.3.6 'skip patches'
2) none of the patches fix show-stopping issues unless you run a pc client.
3) some users have reported problems after installing some of the patches, and sub can't fix any further problems as he's moved on to 2.5.x.
4) there just aren't that many anyway

so, install the patches that you need and sit tight for 2.5.x. you should install them in order though, as later patches may depend on changes in other modules from other patches.

Mr Johnson, just my HO here but I feel that you are putting in soo much work chasing ghosts?

I think sub needs to be a bit more active here?

For instance I followed all your thread patches 1-9 the other day but then when I popped them all into one folder and over-wrote there were only 4 files...

Of course we can all wait for 2.5.x but the inconstancy on this basis will always remain. And IMHO new users will always be confused.

There just does not appear (to me) to be teamwork going on here as to how we handle sub's consistent improvements!

cheers

Someday, there should be a built in update mechanism for NPVR that can show a patch as critcial or recommended and some test to explain what it fixes.

There will always be these individual patches in the forums, mostly because those of us having issues need to test for a fix. Once that fix is confirmed, it could be released to the above mechanism.

Of course, sub is one man. The above sounds dandy in theory, but part of me wonders if I'd rather have other improvements in NextPVR above this. Would this make his life easier long term? Definitely a catch 22.

In the meantime, johnsonx42 saves me a lot of time when I get behind in my visits here and need to find something quick. For that, I'm very thankful!
