Bad Recording Recovery

Got two questions:

1. In a failed recording where it says the signal was bad, is that show still in the system as one that will be re-attempted in the future? Even if it's new and the next recording is hours later or could be months later.

2. When the TV Listing/guide is incorrect and I get a recording of something I didn't want, the DB will show it as recording properly. How do I remove that or reschedule the program for another time? It would be nice to be able to do this from the GUI.

The app has very little logic that depends on in info like whether a show is new, or whether one airing of a show is the same as some other airing, since this is only known in North American guide data.

In North America (using the default settings) it will avoid scheduling a show that it has already recorded successfully, or already has scheduled to record in the future. So...if you'd scheduled a season recording for a particular channel, and the recording failed, then it should record it again next time it comes up. That said - if you'd chosen "Record Season (NEW episodes on this channel)", then it'd only record the shows in the EPG marks them as new, and those subsequent repeats probably wont be marked as new.

I understand your recording logic, makes sense.

But is there a way to remove from the DB the fact that it recorded a show that was really not the correct program? I see this on cable more often. For Example it's set to record a DIY show and the STB fails to change the channel or when it does what was on the DIY channel has changed from the guide. If I could remove from the DB, and have it record whenever it shows up in the future, that would be fine with me.

Will it retain the fact that it recorded the show for a given time or will it save the information forever? I've seen this as a flag like, 90 days, or zero for store forever. I'd prefer just to let the db grow and not rerecord programs previously watched.

The default is like 90 days, but can be tweaked in the config.xml.

Ok, so on my hard drive tonight it filled up with recordings, showing some shows had attempted to record, and they were 0 bytes. Does the system think it recorded never to pick it up again even if I set to record all shows? I'm just thinking it should be reset or not saved so in the future it can pick it back up again.

I checked out the config file. I assume <DeletionHistoryDays>0</DeletionHistoryDays> being set to 0 will retain forever.

If a recording ended up zero bytes, it'll be marked as a failure, so it's unique show id wont stop another recording with the same id form being scheduled.

From memory, 0 means dont use any deletion history. If you want to set it remember for years, then use a big number.
