I only have 3-HDHR Prime, but do not see where they are listed.

I have no standard HDHR but NVPR device shows each of the 3 cable card tuners as well as an ATSC and QAM for each. I can not get NVPR to watch a channel. Wonder if this is the problem? How do I reset this so NVPR channels only show my 3 Prime tuners?

I believe that is normal (to see the 3 cable card tuners and the 2 ATSC tuners) Remember the HDHR Prime can be used either way .. as an OTA NTSC tuner, or a Clear QAM ATSC tuner or as a straight QAM cable card tuner. That's why you see both types listed. I think you can only use a mix of three however .. after all you physically only have three tuners with the Prime. But I don't see why you couldn't set up one Prime tuner as an ATSC tunner and the other two as decoding QAM tuners, for example.

Thanks, I was thinking that maybe this is the problem preventing me form watching the prime. I am using Avast free anti-virus. Do not know of any firewalls on the computer or router. Is maybe something corrupt? I have Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoders set?

You're probably best to reproduce the error and post the logs.

With the HDHR it's almost always related to the firewall software you're using blocking communication.

I've shut down the Win7 64-bit running NPVR as I now am running NPVDR on the HTPC which is a 32 bit Win XP system. Right now both NPVR and BeyondTV are co-existing nicely there.

I was testing NPVR on several systems. And I agree with "Sub" .. most likely it is a firewall problem. Set up your firewall white list and add all the *.exe's that are listed in your NextPVR program folder. You don't need all of them but add them all (I think there 5 executable programs there) I'll bet your video and audio will appear. That was the last piece of the puzzle for me.

Thanks sub and Rich A. I now have NVPR working. I added NextPVR.exe, NRecord.exe, and NDigitalHost.exe to my window7 firewall. This allowed my MPEG2 Video: Microsoft DTV-DVD Decoder to display live video. To get the sound to work I had to download and install AC3 filter full version. Then I set AC3 Audio to AC3 filter. Now video and sound are both working!

Now that I can setup NPVRs, I would like to setup multiple clients and with a single server?

I would like to change my NPVR test server on a windows XP Pro machine to be a client of a NPVR server on the windows 7 ultimate machine. What commands on the window 7 machine do I use to sat the recording folder to sharing so that the XP Pro NPVR client can see it? The name of my NPVR windows 7 server is Larrys-pc. On the NPVR client, I check "Act as a Client". What do I enter for "Server Name:" and "DataBase Share:"? I have trouble setting up window7 shares, so if you could be specific, it would be helpful. I have searched and seen some examples, but was not sure how to do if for my XP Pro/Windows 7 setup.

My friend came over today and I got the client/server working. Will report some details here later.

Edit: Report Back

XP client, XP server:
Client Devices - Act as a client checked; Server Name: Shuttle-mce; Database Share: \\Shuttle-mce\npvr (once setup devices no longer are listed)
Server - "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR" must be set to share, we see it on the client my network places as "npvr on Shuttle-mce"

windows 7 client, windows 7 server:
Client Devices - Act as a client checked; Server Name: LARRYS-PC; Database Share: \\LARRYS-PC\Users\Public\NPVR
Server -"C:\Users\Public\NPVR\" already set to share, we see it on the client my network places as "users on Larrys-pc"

Setting to share on XP server was tricky. Could not use automatic sharing, have to change to where we could control it and then set it to everyone. Notice that names are not case sensitive.

Note: For "Database Share:" we do not want application NPVR directory, but place where npvr.db3 is located. The location for this NPVR directory is given by the "Server:" listing above.
