I am building a new HTPC and can have external or internal capture device for DVB-C - I do need CI support and will have CAM (CryptoGuard) with paired card.

I have been spending hours looking at different DVB-C capture devices and as I have Hauppauge 150 today I looked into HVR-930C but I saw quite some reports of that the device do not work so good - and I did not find any other Hauppauge device with DVB-C with CI support.

some devices below looked good although some of them quite expensive and .

Are some of these not supported in NPVR (using CI and paired card/CAM)?

Anyone who uses them with CI/CAM?

can I use several or will they conflict so I need different brands/models?

can any device use one CAM/card for several capture devides or do I need one CI and CAM/card per device?

anything else I should think about or another device you know work well in NPVR and with CI?

Hi

I'm currently using two FloppyDTV DVB-C with CA-modules and SmartWi Cardsplitter. They are not paired so I have no HD apart from SVT 1 and SVT 2 (we have ComHem at the moment, will move to ATM in june and will then have to skip SmartWi because of the move to Cryptoguard).

I don´t think AnySee is supported (at least not the CI slot) by NPVR, the others SHOULD work I guess (looking at the WiKi page: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...TunerCards any card supporting BDA drivers shold work)

I do not see why you should not be able to use different brands of TV-cards, the only thing is that the more drivers you install the risk of bugs are higher that could affect the stability of your system. If you want to use one CAM for several TV-cards you need to set up newcs/acamd but I don't think that works with Cryptoguard...

Pretty much the only one from that list that will do CI with nextpvr is the Technotrend.

CI isn't covered by and specification so each manufacturer does it a different way. I've only tested the C-150x device though so not sure about the C-3650

ok so choosing
Technotrend Budget C-1501+CI

or possibly
Technotrend CT-3650 CI

would be my first choice then

I read somewhere that having 2 cinergy could be problems that is why I asked about conflicts - maybe I read wrong.

is there any practical limit to number of USB devices in a machine before bandwith is a problem?

by the way stupid question maybe but is it possible to use the C1501 externally or is the internal USB plug different?
(plan to try on existing PC first)

I read much good about FloppyDTV but are reluctant since the manufacturer has shut down and probably no newdrivers willl be made / updated - but maybe they work well in Win 7 will I guess I will kepp for at least 3-4 years.

It's a PCI card, so it's got to go in the PC.

Trying to resurrect an old thread, I know, but where did you order the Technotrend T1500 cards? I can't seem to find them anywhere...

Bummer, you bought the dvb-c card and I am looking for a dvb-t card with supported CI.
