Hiya Martin et al,

new server rebuild going really well. Issues....

Not just MVP on PCH A110 as well....

There seems to be a tendency that I get a "rollback" every now and then through these devices.

What I mean is that a segment on LiveTV gets stuck and reverts back to where I started and then gets into a loop!?

I think I am right to post this as a new issue BUT I did see some stuff about looping on another thread.

To dig it down I can provide a whole day of NextPVR logs that may be tiresome to go through. Or begin to delve into the problem more and provide more concise logs!

Loving NextPVR with Extenders!!!

[Edit] sorry forgot to add this is NextPVR 2.4.3. with all patches etc etc. AFAIK all is up to date! [End Edit]

I will need the logs. You will have to set just one MVP server active, turn off all but one NMT/MVP and duplicate the problem and compress and upload all the files in the Logs folder.

Hiya Martin,

many thanks. I SHOULD have emphasised that this is not a consisent problem but only an occasional one.

Therefore may take some days to pin down to get a replication.

Turned the extender options down to 1 this morning and ran everything all day, no rolling back problem at all but did get hang.

Used MVP for test purpose... would it work better if I was running an NMT for tests or no difference really?

Attached logs anyway to show where MVP hung up. But of course this is not the "roll back" issue I originally posted about!

Before I forget, thank you so much. NextPVR with extenders is just such a brilliant option for anyone searching for a total Windows based PVR/MC solution.

Am sure I should be asking this elsewhere but as you are the guru of most and many things is the LiveTV rolling file still applicable if I wanted to increase it via reg?

cheers and v best

Then it probably isn't worth spending a lot of time. It's better than it was but the rolling file doesn't always roll properly.

The MVP hangs. Period. Sub and I spend some time on this and gave up. NMT hangs are quire different so I could look at the logs and tell you if it is truly a rolling file problem. But and this is important, remember to include all the logs, you didn't include the web logs I would have needed.

Both the NMT and MVP are linux.

Yes unfortunately we have to live with the rolling file.

Thank you Martin,

just the answers I needed!

Am not expecting any more from the MVP's than was already given.

Weird that the log .zip's are not giving what you need. 7Zip refuses to play ball if NextPVR services are running. WinZip tries but denies to deliver....

steeb make note this really should be on wiki that closure of NextPVR services is needed for complete log files? How do I write that!!!

Went off piste.

Will attempt to run a PCH from now on for troubleshooting!

[Edit] And should have said that if we have to live with the rolling file this too should be documented... Or at least I think this should be an option in Misc tab of Settings? [End Edit]

v best

Try copying and pasting the Log file folder to your desktop and 7Zip the copied version(s).

Hiya ACTCMS!

yes but my mind is currently working through a load of issues at the mo, pretending that I am a new user to NextPVR. And as I stated all off piste for this thread (sorry Martin!)

This is how log files are on the wiki:

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...alledParts

this is not the place to talk about them....

But REALLY appreciate your input.... and so nice to hear from you

If I am finding it a challenge....

Hi Martin,

I finally had a chance to try this again with only 1 instance of MVP/NMT running in settings.

It first happened on an MVP so I turned that off and Turned on an NMT to the same channel I was having issues with.

The LiveTV automatically started looping over a short period. The NMT remote was then unresponsive, can't even power off the NMT.

logs attached

cheers

Your tuner is only recording about 4MB of data and then dieing. The NMT tries to replay this assuming it will eventually grow but in this case it stayed the same size. Maybe trying the DVBfix?

You have a second problem that I can't explain but it is not an NMT/MVP problem

Code:
2012-06-19 17:35:39.515    [ERROR][3]    System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
   at NextPVR.Players.LiveTvPlayer.StartLiveTV(Channel channel, String& reason)
   at NextPVR.MVP.MVPServerForm.PlayLiveTV(Channel channel)
   at NextPVR.TV.TVGuide.HandleCommand(String command)
   at NextPVR.TV.TVGuide.OnKeyDown(KeyEventArgs e)
   at NextPVR.MVP.MVPServerForm.ControlThread()

Thanks Martin,

I do not know about that 2nd problem but I feel like a:

[h=1]Dummkopf[/h]because usually I would have used the DVB fix. DVB fix applied. All is well. Now this goes back to my wiki head. Why are we pointing to MP DVB fix? Cannot we point to a direct download for this with NextPVR? There must be some nice peeps over at MP that would allow this?

cheers
