I haven't tried any live TV yet, but I did install the newest version of the software and record a short test recording. The playback of this recording was much improved, to the point I can actually watch it now without wanting to throw something at the TV, but there are still jumps and skips, just not every second like before.

How can I get NPVR to record programs on the re-mapped digital channels? I'm using Schedules Direct, but when the EPG updates, all the remapped digital channels have no program information. Is this something I have to change on the SD end of it, or in NPVR? These are QAM channels being remapped from 7.1 to 350, etc.

How can I find out if it has the channel? It doesn't show up in NPVR anywhere that I can see. All I have are the analog channels with program info. The other channels have no info.

It's not entirely clear where you are, but I'll have a guess:

When it comes to analog channels, as soon as you've imported your channels, they're all already associated with the correct schedules direct channel. For digital channels, after a scanning you have channels that either have no EPG or some broadcast epg some countries. If you wanted to tell NextPVR to use the schedules direct listings for those digital channels then you need to manually make the mappings. There is a few ways you can do it. For example - you could watch the channnel, then right click, then choose 'set epg source', then select the Schedules Direct channel to use for the source.

I figured out last night how to map my HD channels. I watched some live TV and that looked good, and I recorded a program from one of the HD channels and it looked fantastic! The problem now is, I have no sound on the HD channels, either in live TV or in recordings. Any idea what might be causing that? The sound works fine for programs on analog channels.

You need to have an AC3 decoder selected in the Settings. Digital channels have different audio encoding than analog channels. You will need to download a decoder (if you have not already) as the audio decoder included with Windows 7 does not work with NPVR (or any other non-MS app). I recommend AC3 Filter. It's free and you can find it with a search.

I'm using Windows XP, not Windows 7. Does that make a difference?

In my Decoders settings, I have AC3 Audio set to ffdshow Audio Decoder, and E-AC3 Audio is set to Disabled.

Try installing AC3Filter, and selecting it as the AC3 decoder.

I just downloaded but when I tried to install it I got the following error:

C:\Program Files\AC3Filter\ac3filter.ax
Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0xC0000417
