Npvr/ Service fails to launch launch

After successfully running V2.4.3 (no current patches) since its release, NextPVR failed to launch and a message to the effect that the "JIT debugger could not be found" was displayed. Sorry but I did not note the full message or secure the log files. Instead I did a full unistall and reinstall hoping that would fix the problem and expecting to be able to recreate the error if necessary. Not to be

NPVR Service failed to start. I then started it manually. The following message was displayed-

"Unable to start service: System.Service,TimeoutException.: Time out has expired and the operation has not competed. at
System.ServiceProcess. ServiceController.WaitForStatus(ServiceControllerStatus desiredStatus. TimeSpan timeout) at NCtrl.Program.Main(String[]args)"

It looks like your config.xml is broken. Can you zip and attach it?

Yep, that file is empty - so well and truely screwed.

If you delete the file, then start the app again, it should create a new one (copied from "Config-master-dont-edit.xml").

Unfortunately no go! Got the message "This is the first time you've run the application...." followed by a Unhandled exception the details of which are (sorry I don't know how to zip the message):

It's not really clear to me what the error is from that log. There is an error message in there about the skin files, generated by TV Listings. It's entirely clear to me what it's reporting. Is "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Skin\Default" present on the machine? Does it contain the TV Listings skin folder?

Yes and yes. I don't actually use TV Listings. It's just a hangover from an earlier time.
