I have a 2 min pre-padding and a 15 min post-padding, so a 1 hour show should be 1:17.
Last night, such a show stopped recording at 1:02.
Logs are attached.
Show was Once Upon a Time, 29/5/12 @ 19:30.
The logs say that postprocessing started at 20:45, but Windows and Mediainfo think its only an hour long.

Any ideas what happened?

Padding is always considered "desirable but optional". It started recording at 19:28. At 20:30, which was when the post padding was kicking in, it need to use the tuner to record 'Origins Of Us' on a different frequency, so 'Once Upon A Time' stopped recording.

Yes, OK, except I have 4 tuners. I don't think all were in use.

yes, there is definitely something going wrong in that log. it records Once Upon a Time on handle #3, then stops handle 3 at 20:30 in favor of another recording (origins of us), yet doesn't seem to 'know' that it did that and stops handle 3 again at 20:45 when it does post-processing on Once Upon a Time.

it seems like when it did this:
Code:
2012-05-29 20:30:56.013    [DEBUG][7]    Was allocated to capture source20
2012-05-29 20:30:56.028    [DEBUG][7]    Found another available tuner for new recording. Now allocated to 21
2012-05-29 20:30:56.284    [DEBUG][7]    Recording successfully moved.
it thought source 21 was idle when it was actually still doing a recording (post-padding, but still active).

by the way, are you certain you have 4 tuners active with channels assigned? in your entire recording log I see only tuners 20 and 21.

My experience is the "Past end time of recording" stop of the handle and PostProcessing run at the scheduled stop time including padding even when it is forced to stop early.

The oddest thing about these logs is that NDigitalhost isn't running on 2.4.3 for a DigitalTuner. The 2.4.3 update may now have been valid.

I believe so. Maybe I was only ever recording two things at once (in these logs). All my tuners see all the channels, with the exception of a couple of shopping channels that I have never recorded.

I think this is because I had to turn off the "Use Out of Process digital recording option" as I suffered badly from the Incomplete EPG problem.

Sorry - what does this mean?

Sub, I take your point about padding being of lower priority. There have been many discussions on this matter. I can see both sides, but here in Aus, the TV stations are notorious for ignoring end times. I would add my vote for making this (optionally, maybe, on a per-show basis) mandatory.

Every now and then I try to work out the algorithm for scheduling tuners, but after a few moments, my brain melts.

Cheers and thanks
