I just set up a new server and decided to give NPVR a try having run GBPVR previously. I think I have it set up and working just fine. Terribly disappointed that it creates .ts instead of .mpg but I can work around that.

I think that I have solved every problem save 1 and though I have searched, I can't seem to find the answer. With GBPVR I was using a program called WizRenameRecording to change the name of the output file to something sensible that I could use. My postprocessing.bat is the same as it was using GBPVR in which it worked fine.

Does this program work with NPVR? If so, what is different? If not is there a replacement for it?

Thanks for any assistance.

Well.. Ok then. Should have followed the old saying.. if it ain't broke.....

A lot of time was spent on NPVR (who thought it was a good idea to "hide" the config?) only to find out it is missing a critical piece. The files are absolutely useless to me unless I can re-name them after the recording.

Have re-installed GBPVR and once again I have mpg files and WizRename works.

I will leave NPVR on my system for the time being to see if there are any solutions or updates.

well,, OK but a simple thread search of "rename" could have given you Guideplus
http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....GuidePlus

which is only one of several ways to rename files in NPVR

I dont remember the last time I saw anyone refer to WizRename. It was probably a couple of years ago. I dont really know how it works or what it does exactly, but I suspect it was a utility that renamed the file in some way and updated the GBPVR database. It may also have queried the database for information about the recording before renaming. It probably wouldn't know how to update the NextPVR database, which uses a different structure.

If you let us know in what way it was renaming the file, someone might be able to suggest a NextPVR-friendly way to achieve the same thing.

Please believe me, I did search. Thank you for the link but after reading an entire page, I have absolutely no idea how to use it. Is there a setup guide with examples for someone who just wants to use it to rename a file?

You might find MVallevand's ImageGrabLite 1.1 to be an easier to use rename utility. As the name implies, it also gets artwork.

Links to download and usage instructions are in this post: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...abLite-1-1

Well, it was a nice thought...

I installed the program and added the following line to my postprocessing.bat per the link

C:\Program Files\NPVR\imageGrabLite.exe" --oid %3 --rename

and it did absolutely nothing (the batch file did process). If it creates a log file, I can't find it.

I don't know why everything around here has to be like trying to solve a cryptoquote. Oh well.

You appear to be missing the beginning double-quote. I suspect that is why there is no log file imageGrabLite.log in the Log folder
