If I record 2 programs one after the other on the same channel there is picture breakup on the second program at the exact point where the first recording ends.

I think it also happens when recording two programs sequentially on different channels but it's hard to confirm.

I've started manually stopping the first recording if I can as soon as it finishes so that the breakup occurs during the adverts and not the start of the second program.

It doesn't happen everytime, but it's happened so many times now that it can't just be coincidence.

What could be causing this? I record to a WD Green drive which is defraged/nearly empty and the PC is otherwise idle. This didn't happen with GBPVR on the same hardware FWIW.

Ah sorry completely forgot about the logs, it was very late.

Anyway, I deleted all logs and setup two recordings, it happened again and attached is the logs folder.

Pre and Post padding on the first show is set to 5/65, the post padding is so long because it's broadcast in two parts with 5 mins of news inbetween, so I just record the first part with enough padding to cover the second and it saves joining them during the edit. The post padding is effectively 5 mins and also occurs if left at default.

On the second show (Lets Do Lunch with Gino & Mel) it's the default 5/5 and the the picture breakup is 5 mins into it. I can cut the ts files and upload them somewhere if you need those too.

These two recordings were on the same tuner... do you have just the one tuner, or do you have two? If two, does the same thing happen if a recording starts on the other tuner? It shouldn't happen regardless, but I'm just trying to gather facts.

The logs otherwise don't show anything interesting; there had been a bug in a previous version that could cause something like this, but your logs show you are on the current version. It only takes 16ms to start the second recording, so there's no sign of any delay or hang there.

Anyone else have any ideas? sub?

It's a dual tunner card (Compro VideoMate E900F). Those were the only two recordings scheduled aswell. Shouldn't it of used both tunners if they were free? I'm guessing it doesn't if it can get away with it to leave a tuner free for a third/forth recording.

I'll have to do more tests before I can answer that.

Thanks.

Any ideas, anyone? Is it worth unistalling and starting from scratch?

There's no reason to imagine that would change anything.

The only other thing I can think of to try is to change the order of your two tuners (in Devices, move the second one above the first one), then try another test. The issue shouldn't have anything to do with the tuners themselves, but I'm at a loss to explain the issue.

Beyond that, your best bet is to wait a couple of weeks or so for NPVR 2.5 and if the issue continues post again and maybe sub can provide a patch. Right now he seems to be away, and really can't do much with 2.4.3 if he wanted to anyway.

Ok thanks, still get the issue after changeing the order of the tuners so it's a waiting game then. Annoyingly I can't remember if I had this problem before I changed transmitters. I will probably try a re install in the mean time. Hope sub isn't holidaying in england, the weather is rubbish.. you wouldn't know it was summer.
