Help needed on first install!!!

I'm going to make sure I've got all the patches installed as well, in case that's anything to do with it.

I wouldn't bother with the patches just yet. Until I post a "Cumulative Patch Update", you don't need to install them unless one fixes your specific problem (and whatever you have going on is just a configuration issue of some sort). No one (except me!) is expected to go clicking through each patch post to download every update to the files. That said, a cumulative update is probably coming soon, whenever sub gets to the bottom of the DCR-2650 back-to-back recording issue.

Just to let you know that its so far, so good. Problems haven't happened since i changed the decoders (i was using cyberlink ones previously). Also installed cumulative patch.

Only other glitch of note so far is that i tried watching a program while it was recording, on timeshift, and the video was played back flipped on both axis, i.e. rotated 180 degrees. When the recording had stopped, i played it back and it was fine.

To be honest i'm intending to use this mainly as a recorder and to watch recordings, rather than using it for live tv/ timeshift, so its probably not a problem.

Waiting on a few components to arrive before it gets moved into the living room and gets a proper run in.

What do you mean? There is no cumulative patch for 2.3.6 yet. Or do you just mean you installed all the patches from the current list?

That's really weird. I don't think anyone has ever reported that happening on any version of NPVR going back to the very first release. What video decoders are you using?

I am having the same issue on my machine... In the settings menu It says Directx is not on this machine. I know its there because I ran dxdiag and it is all working. I have the HDhomerun prime device and want to view TV on a Windows XP machine.

same answer as I gave the op, you have to install the runtime update. Dxdiag doesn't mean anything.

So I found the link and installed DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). I am still getting the same message in the settings menu. I restarted the computer and still the same message. Did I get the wrong thing?

What graphic card do you have?

radeon x300 series... But just noticed it is disabled for unknown reason.

Isn't that a rather old card? Many of the older cards does not work with DirectX the was npvr uses it.

The desk top is a dell dimension 4700. I thought it might work on this computer. Got an updated driver and enabled the devices and still have issue with directx not on computer in settings menu.
