When nPVR first starts, the program does not respond immediately to commands, whether I use the remote or the keyboard,. For example, when nPVR first loads it brings up the main menu. I can hit “arrow down” several times, but the first menu item (Recordings) stays highlighted. If I hit “enter” it will go to the proper menu item (e.g., if I hit arrow down 3 times then enter, I the third menu item as I shold even though the first menu item was still the one highlighted when I hit enter). So it appears all the key strokes are registering properly, but the screen does not update for them.

Once I go through the keystrokes to load and play a file in the recordings section, I can stop the recording and everything works perfectly from that point on until the next time I load nPVR…then I go through it all again (I’ve gotten very good at memorizing the keystrokes needed to go into recordings and launch a programRolleyes).

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the nPVR program, but I still have the same behavior. I am using Windows 7 64-bit on a i5-2500k Intel-based machine. Output goes to HDTV through HDMI output of an ATI video card (but I get the same behavior if I move the app to my LCD monitor on a DVI port). I’m attaching the logs in case it helps. Anyone have suggestions?

try disabling your plugins. the simplest way is to just rename the plugins directory to "plugins.dis" or something like that.

one of the plugins could be causing it, and your logs are so full of plugin messages it's hard to see what nextpvr is doing.

Can you post the new logs, now that there is less noise in them?

Here are new logs. I had renamed the plugins to plugins.dis, named it back, then went back to plugins.dis when sub asked for the logs...hope that does not make it too confusing. I also noticed that even with the plugins folder renamed, I still get plugins in the main menu (but they of course will not load)...do I need to do something more thorough than the directory rename?

There is no obvious signs of stuff going on in that log, so I cant think why NPVR would not appear responsive immediately after startup.

How is the CPU usage when this problem is happening?

Approximately how long are you having to wait until things behave normally? ie, if you start the app, wait 10 seconds, then use the keyboard, does it respond immediately? 20 seconds, 30 seconds?

I tried loading nPVR and pressing the down arrow 3 times. In about 15 seconds, the menu focus changed to the second item in the list (i.e., responded to the first down-arrow). About 60 seconds after that it went to the third item in the list (second down-arrow). About 60 seconds after that it finally went to the forth item in the list (responding to the third down-arrow). If I had hit the three down arrows and enter, it would have immediately responded with live tv (the 4th item in my menu list) with no delay.

Sorry, I dont know. That makes no sense to me. I've not seen any other reports of it either.

If it still does it in the next release though, I could give you a patch with more logging to help identify what's happening.
