One of my clients occasionally takes as long as 20s to load NPVR (from launching the EXE until I see the NPVR main menu). It only seems to occur after I wake it from sleep but it doesn't consistently happen. My other client doesn't seem to have this problem even though it is almost the exact same system. I have attached the log file but I don't see anything in there to explain it. Any ideas? Thanks.

I cant see any obvious cause of a slow start. It looked like it took four seconds to initialise direct 3D on your machine, which is a comparitively long time, for an operation that only takes a hundred milliseconds or so on my machine.

In that log it looks like it's taking a total of 6 seconds to start (11:19:15 - 11:19:21) once Windows starts running the code.

Yeah, the log doesn't jive with what I'm seeing in terms of the delay. I was thinking it might be a network issue but it is not consistent and doesn't seem to show up in the log.

I'm a brand new user to NPVR; I've been using Mediaportal for quite some time but have never quite managed to get the codecs sorted and its always been a little laggy for my liking.

My setup:
1 "Server" downstairs with TV aerial going into TBS 6280 (dual HD tuner DVB-T2) (Win 7 64 bit, 4 GB DDR2 Ram, Core 2 Duo 660 @2.4 GHz, Corsair M4 SSD)
1 "Client" upstairs (Win 7 64 bit, 8 GB DDR3 Ram, Phenom II X4 @ 3 GHz, OCZ Vertex 4 SSD)

These are connected via 200 mbps powerline adapters. (The upstairs adapter goes into a wireless router which acts as a switch as well as a wireless point for my tablet) n.b. the issues occur without the router and the client pc straight into the powerline.

ISSUE:

Attached is a log for start-up. Is this boot time normal?! I've disabled check online for updates; is there something else I want to disable?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks cncb.

I'm not sure that the issue is related as it's the same regardless of whether the client and/or server have been on for a long period or just started up as you issue seems to suggest.

Is it immediately after a reboot, or way from standby/hibernate? If so, then I think it's just case of Windows taking a long time to re-establish its network shares.

I remember over a year ago having lots of problems with my client when it woke from sleep. The problems dissapeared when I stopped using Sleep and powered off when not in use.
