Now that I have (looked again) found them.... yes you do have the bases covered..... I do wonder if the "Download" tab in the "Home - Features - Screenshots -Downloads - etc." would be better going to the QuichStart link (which has the Download link in it) though?

I do wonder how many just don't find the manual??

Dearest Jaggy,

IMHO you should not even feel a slight Sad

Let alone a thrice Sad

Manual's are always a sticky area Big Grin And I have worked a bit to write a few. Thing is we are not getting paid to do this...

It is all for the love!

The prob is always with the main management and how a manual is implemented. Once again IMHO this has never been implemented well within GB-PVR - NextPVR. But then again sub always said this! This is not a concern of sub's? It would not be my concern if I was coding this stuff, alone? Why/where would I find the time to actually consider documenting it? Particularly if I was adament that all I needed was a forum, to discuss it?

cheers

Why do I have the feeling you're trying to poke me with a stick to get me to do something? You'd need to make it more clear though - its going over my head. If you want something, just say it in plain english rather than dropping vague hints.

Personally I think you guys did an awesome job with the website. I dont know what more you'd want. Sure there is probably some small changes that could improve things, but I reckon it's pretty great as-is.

Just a few observations:

When a new user goes to the download link the first thing there is the link to the installer, how many then download and try to install without reading any further (boys will be boys) and then give up or start asking the same old questions in the forum - do I need to install direct x etc.
Perhaps there needs to be a list (Idiots Guide) of what you must install with links before the NPVR download link. (I guess not everyone knows what prerequisite means - from some of the q's on the forum)

Also maybe the Community Tab should be replaced with a Support Tab Listing the various options - Wiki Manual, Getting Started, Forum etc. Don't forget not everyone knows what a wiki is. Having worked in Industry for forty years - one thing has never changed - If all else fails,as a last resort and someone will probably have to remind you - RTFM Big Grin
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I would suggest replying with a link to the wiki page rather then repeating the same answer. (IMHO).

I did wonder about the lack of a "Support" link on the main pages (it's hidden as a header behind the Community page). With this in mind I've made some minor changes - if anyone (ie sub) hates the changes please remember that nothing is fixed in stone.

Sub. What are your thoughts on changing the Download link the header to a Downloads page? This page will have a primary link to the NextPVR download thread but also links to the Plugins and Skins sections of the wiki? With the Community page gone these contributions are no longer as prominent.

The download link on the home page (above the forum rss feeds) can remain a direct link to the download thread on the forum.

I understand the reasoning for answering a user this way, but the opportunity usually doesn't come up. More often than not, they're asking a more specific question, after having had a go at installing it, got it partially going but got stuck on something specific. Usually this requires a more specific answer than pointing them at the documentation (RTFM).

I'm guessing users are likely to be the same as me, and will just download and install an app without reading any of the pages on a website. Its just human nature. If I have problems though, then I'll often go back and have a read those pages to see if there is an easy answer.

As PITA it is to answer variations on the same question though, its what makes this community so great. I've been spoiled in the fact that this was one of the first online communities I was fairly heavily involved with, and so when i go somewhere else, Xbmc, plexapp, sickbeard etc I get frustrated that I don't have an answer within a couple of hours - can take days (if any answer is posted at all).

How about a tick box on the installer?
