nsti2tion Wrote:Did not have latest Silverlight (even though it was set to autoupdate). After updating to Silverlight V5, I have audio, but still back screen. Alternating the allow/deny in permissions did not do anything.
Machine has XP with IE 8 installed.
If I drag Internet Explorer to 2nd monitor, go to Netflix ,select a movie, and then select fullscreen...silverlight pops up and I have pic and sound.
Thanks,
-N

EDIT**
One thing I noticed....If I have the viewer set to primary monitor and play a movie then select fullscreen from within the viewer, I get black screen with audio on the primary.
If I don't select fullscreen, everything is okay on the primary monitor.
Dunno if that helps.

The way it worked for me, if I set it to allow full screen focus I'd get a black screen when in full screen mode on the viewer on the secondary screen. But it worked fine as long as I didn't hit the "f" to go to full screen. However, with the new viewer format you should no longer need to go into full screen mode, it should fill the screen without it.

Now, I just need to figure out why your program isn't responding. I'm pretty sure it is still a silverlight issue. Please forgive my directions if they seem simplistic:

1) If you go to the netflix website does it give you a drm error when you try to play a movie?
1a) If so, change the file name of this file: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\PlayReady\mspr.hds to nspr.hds. (I had to do this on my xp machine)
2) Go into the silverlight settings app and delete the movies.netflix.com/wiplayer permission. Reboot and rerun the .reg file I sent you.
3) Completely uninstall silverlight and reinstall. Then try step 2.

I'll try some things on my test machine and see what I get.

Will try the suggestions.
I also noticed that when using the old version (2.9.8.4), once a movie is playing...the taskbar shows NetflixTXViewer and Movie Viewer.
When I use the newest version, the taskbar only shows NetflixTXViewer .

EDIT **
Tried the suggestions, same thing. Also, no DRM errors on Netflix site.

I have to get some sleep...but thanks for all your help so far.

Sorry I lied to you, it doesn't work on my XP machine either. I checked to make sure that the reg edit added the permission, but I never checked the xp machine to make sure the fix worked. My Bad!

Just to clarify, this was working fine on the 2.9.8.4 version though with silverlight 4? If that is the case, I can go back to the previous version and see what I did differently.

Yes. It worked wtih 2.9.8.4 and silverlight 4.
2.9.8.4 still works with silverlight 5.
Apart from everything working fine (until the upcoming Netflix changes), the other reason I haven't upgraded the program is that all versions I have tried after 2.9.8.4 have had this same issue. I didn't want to bother you as no one else appears to have this issue.
Thanks,
-N

OK, I didn't lie to you the other day. It turns out that when I was testing I made a change to one of the movie viewer attributes that wasn't correct and apparently that was what was broken all along. I think you still need the registry value, but please test it without the reg value too. Please try this version and let me know if this fixes the problem for you as well. Always helps if we are looking at the same version Big Grin

It works!

Did not need the reg tweak. I went into Silverlight permissions and removed the setting completely, then restarted the PC.

Thank you!!!

Good deal, I'll get the new version released. I went ahead and fixed a few things that I noticed weren't working properly on the secondary screen (splash screen, options menu, mouse menu). Let me know if anything else isn't working right.

ps - The version I sent you was freezing up when closing the movie viewer, so you may want to download the latest version.

Thank you! You're my first donation! Big Grin

I'm trying to get a website funded because sagetv was bought by google and I don't know how long the forum will still be up and running and the file is too big to put on here. If you send me an email at netflixviewer@embarqmail.com I'll send you a version that doesn't bug you about donations.

Thanks again!
