NPVR 2.5.5: Not Quite Fullscreen When Waking Up

When I wake the computer up (and NPVR was already running prior to going to sleep), NPVR won't be fullscreen even though it appears that it is "fullscreen". Make sense? :confused: Anyway, attached is as jpg showing what I mean. Also the npvr.log is attached too but doesn't show anything.

I have that problem also... Went round and round trying to solve it.

Only started happening after I upgraded by adding an AV Receiver to my setup (previously it was htpc->tv) . As far as I understand it, the problem is not really NPVR related. The problem lies in the HDMI handshake and EDID info (IIRC). Tried a fix where one creates a custom EDID profile (can't remember where I found it - avs forums maybe?). It helped with how frequently it happens, but it happens all the same from time to time.

Not really helping you I know, but it might get you going in the right direction...

As a mitigating solution, I programmed a combo of ALT+Enter x2 for my Harmony remote to cycle between windowed and fullscreen mode.

Yes, that does help. Thanks for the info. I also have my htpc HDMI going to an AV receiver. I should also double check my Harmony remote to make sure that it is waking the computer as the last step. I wonder if I could put a pause between powering on the TV/AV receiver and the htpc?

I had different problems depending on when the PC powered on and sometimes would leave the screen blank. I decided an easier approach that always worked for me was to 'devcon' http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272 to restart the video card.

For my system a simple script like this to restart my video card works in all cases:

Slower than the EDID method, but always seems to work for me. I had to extract the 64 bit version of devcon64 for Win 7 from the Windows Driver Kit. Thanks for that additional method to try. I haven't had time to try neither yet, but will soon...hopefully.
