Is there a way to control the naming convention for recordings? I'd like to have the name be "Series -SxxEyy - Episode.ts". Is this possible?

The latest version is here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post439092
Not quite what you asked but it only supports Title.S##E##.Episode and for movies Title(YYYY-MM-DD) at the moment. Time for me to consolidate the documentation. Martin

Is this possible?Just to be clear, NextPVR usually doesn't know the season and episode numbers, so you need to use solution like that utility above, which tries to query this information by searching on the internet.

For the avoidance of doubt, the xmltv source used by most of us in the UK includes series and episode info.
For example ... <episode-num system="xmltv_ns">9.11/19.</episode-num>

I think sub does import them if there is some logic behind them, and I did offer to update IGL to support renaming based on what NextPVR has in the database. He even attempts to do it in North America but the values are being misinterpreted. I don't think this isn't a big thing for most users recording outside the US and Canada since it is mainly for Plex or XBMC or when you want good sorts in the Video Library.

The exact name format probably doesn't matter, but I need to have the season number, episode number, and episode name in the filename. This is so that the XBMC scraper will work properly. I don't care that much about the fanart since XBMC scrapers will pick that up for me and I only intend to use NextPVR as a back end. Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded it and will start working with it today.
Actually since I don't care about the images, is there a way with IGL to not retrieve the images?

Unlike XBMC, NextPVR doesn't have it's own database tables for link and images. For interoperability IGL creates a base XML file in Media\Shows which sub support as metadata display in NextPVR. This is the base for future renaming (tvrage not supported yet) and it is a very important file. When IGL downloads the base xml file, it also gets the series cover art which sub also display. It is a one time download and it isn't really worth the effort of adding yet another command line option just to avoid the small download. I am pretty sure the jpg file can be deleted, if it is a bother.
If you use the --updateepg option the download of the base files is done during quiet time too so it wont get in the way during a rename. If I ever add episode art downloading I will make sure that this can be disabled. Martin

OK it was just a thought. Thanks for the detailed answer.

I didn't test extensively but I developed the impression that npvr recordings would only get loaded into the xbmc TV shows database if they were in a format such as Title.SxxEx.Episode. So without being able to name the recordings in this format, it means that npvr recordings can onyl be viewed in Live TV - TV recordings and not under TV SHows. Won't this be considered a problem for xbmc users looking to adopt npvr?
It would be could if IGL or npvr natively could use <episode-num> (if it exists) to rename files so xbmc could load the recordings and then do the internet lookup to download addtional fanart and metadata.
