Howdy guys,

I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 900H USB DVB-T tuner and I'm trying to get it going with nPVR software.

I've gone thru the nPVR setup, and it seems to have picked up all the channels (even more than our Tivo!) and the program guide OK, but it won't display anything visually - only a black screen.

I've used Hoborg's SAF6 program to update all the codecs If anyone could take a look at the settings in below & point me in the right direction I'd be much obliged!

(I am away from the pc currently, so can't attach a zip log, but will endeavor to do so ASAP!)

Here is my settings tab with the options I have from the drop down menus:

RENDERERS:

video renderer:
-EVR
-VMR9
-VMR9 custom
-VMR9 FSE
-VMR7
-Overlay

video renderer:
-Default (recommended)
-SigmaTel audio
-Default DirectSound Device
-Default WaveOut Device
-DirectSound: Modem #0 Line playback (emulated)
-DirectSound: SigmaTel audio
-Modem #0 Line playback

Music renderer:
-Default (recommended)
-SigmaTel audio
-Default DirectSound Device
-Default WaveOut Device
-DirectSound: Modem #0 Line playback (emulated)
-DirectSound: SigmaTel audio
-Modem #0 Line playback

DECODERS:

MPEG2 video:
-disabled
-ffdshow video decoder
-sonic cm® ds videodecoder 4.0
-LAV video decoder

H.264 video:
-disabled
-ffdshow DXVA video decoder
-ffdshow video decoder
-LAV video decoder
-emuzed H264 video decoder-filter

MPEG1 audio:
-disabled
-LAV audio decoder
-ffdshow audio decoder
-sonic cinemaster MCE audio decoder
-monogram aac decoder

AC3 audio:
-disabled
-LAV audio decoder
-ffdshow audio decoder
-sonic cinemaster MCE audio decoder

E-AC3 audio:
-disabled
-LAV audio decoder
-ffdshow audio decoder

AAC audio:
-disabled
-LAV audio decoder
-ffdshow audio decoder
-monogram aac decoder
-mpc real audio decoder

HE-AAC audio:
-disabled
-ffdshow audio decoder
-LAV audio decoder
-monogram aac decoder

There is a check box that is checked below these options that says: Only mapped audio decoders during .ts playback

I also get an error message when I try to change channels of:

Unhandled exception has occured in a component in your application. If you click CONTINUE, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Method not found: 'Boolean NUtility.IPluginHelper.PlayLiveTVPIP [NUtility.Channel]

then it only gives options of details & continue.

Many thanks,

For DVB-T in NZ you'd probably be best to set the HE-AAC and AC3 decoders to LAV Audio Decoder. You also need to set the H.264 video decoder, but I dont think I can vouch for any of those you have listed. I use either the ArcSoft video decoder, or the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder.

This sounds like you've ended up with an old version of a DLL somehow. I'd reinstall 2.5.9.

Cheers for the help sub!

Any chance there are free alternatives to the ArcSoft video decoder or Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder? I'm having trouble getting the MS DTV-DVD video decoder to work.

Hopefully I've now attached the log file of the errors I've been getting, if someone could take a look & let me know what they think I'd much appreciate it Smile

If you PM Hoborg he will give you unlock instructions for SAF 6 The PDVD 12 codec is giving me very good results with both SD and HD broadcasts.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

It appears that the decoders and whatnot that you are using for playback are ...

2012-10-07 22:05:11.687 [DEBUG][1] - Emuzed H264 Video Decoder-Filter

2012-10-07 22:05:11.687 [DEBUG][1] - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
2012-10-07 22:05:11.687 [DEBUG][1] - NPVR TS Reader2

You could try setting video and audio decoders to PDVD. In the UK, HD broadcasts need LAV for the audio decoder but I ain't sure what is required in NZ.

Edir: It is recommended to set Audio Renderer to Default.
