NPVR and FDDShow

I am trying to get NPVR up and running so I can use the XBMC plugin. I beleive I have all of my tuners added but when I go to view LiveTV, all I get is a black screen. The audio seems to work. I tried changing to the ArcSoft decoder and the video starts working but no go with FDDShow. Do I have have something wrong with my configuration?


Also when I select the Arcsoft decoder, if I go to properties, I can select DXVA 2 and/or DXVA 1 but the choices don't stick so the next time I go to properties, the options are unselected.

If you are on Win7, select the MS DTV-DVD decoder and the EVR video renderer. Then you can try other decoders. The MS decoder works well for USA TV. If you're on XP, you don't have the MS decoder. For ffdshow, you need to add npvr.exe to the whitelist in the setup of ffdshow. I can't tell you exactly where that is, as I don't use ffdshow.

You should post your logs, and your OS, tuners and program source (OTA, QAM, etc). That would help with the troubleshooting.

If you install an ffdshow tryout via a codec pack, typically mpeg2 decoding is not enabled. On the decoders tab find ffdshow click on [..] it will launch the ffdshow properties find mpeg2 and enable it. I choose libavcodec

You can try SAF6 if you want (link below) - it have FFDshow preconfigured (not only) fot Npvr.
