Hello,

Help! I just recently started experimenting with NPVR with the intention of using it as a TV backend for XBMC. I was able to install it on my deskotp computer without any major issues, however I ultimately want to install it on my HTPC. Both computers are running Windows 7 x64. My issue is that on my HTPC install I am not able to connect to the webserver. This is also seems to prevent the XBMC client from connecting properly.

I have tried just about everything including: disabling the Windows firewall, changing the NPVR service username, changing the webserver port and installing all of the avaliable patches. The regular NPVR software seems to work just fine, and all of the normal ports are created with the exception of 8866 (or whatever port I happen to pick). I have not seen any strange errors in the windows event viewer, and I have been able to run a port listening program on 8866 and observe connection attempts. This computer does run SabNZBd on port 8080 and Sickbeard on 8081, althrough I belive I've tried it with these off.

I have attached a copy of the NPVR logs, and a partial printout from "netstat -a". I imagine I could figure out what is happening if there was some way to increasing the debugging output from the NRecord client, so I can see what happens when it tries to open port 8866. Is there anyway to do that?

Thanks for your assistance.

If you change any of the web server setting in the GUI config or by diting config.xml you would need to restart the recording service for them to take effect.

Unfortunately I have rebooted the recording service many times with no success.

I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials. I have not tried disabling that, but I haven't noticed any problems with other programs.

Can you connect to the webserver on the local machine using 127.0.0.1:8866?

No, I do not get a response either locally or remotely. When I check the open ports with netstat, it appears that port 8866 is never opened by NPVR. All other functions and ports of NPVR seem to be operational.

Windows firewall is a very suspicious creature and sometimes get in the way of npvr, try opening firewall settings an d add exception for Nrecord.exe, NTray.exe, NDigitalHost.exe and NextPVR.exe.

Yes, in the firewall you need three things put in -- Nrecord.exe, NPVR.exe and NdigitalHost.exe -- If any of those don't have specific rules in the Windows Firewall, you'll likely have issues in some way or another.
