I am still having intermittent live tv freezes on clients. I could be wrong, but I now believe this was something introduced in 2.5.9. I say this because:

I took this recent problem, and some extra time, to do something others have done: a dedicated NextPVR server. I took my old core solo desktop and configured FROM SCRATCH:

- Windows 7, all updates. Firewall Off. All energy settings set to "never."

- Latest HD-PVR drivers.

- NPVR 2.5.9, clean install, plus all pre-requisites. I only imported my recordings, and recurring recordings. All other items, including HDPVR setup, and guides were done from scratch.

The server has nothing else on it. NextPVR doesn't even run, only the service.

I've also replaced a client, again completely from scratch to ensure that it wasn't something I did (although my clients haven't changed from the previous version other than installing 2.5.9). Even with this client, the freezes persist on it.

Well, earlier today I reverted to 2.5.5. I've had clients streaming for hours now and not a single freeze. Completely smooth sailing again. To me this, plus my post above, confirms my suspicion that some change in 2.5.9 caused the issues in this thread.

Unfortunately, I'm now no longer in a position to supply logs on the problem. The logs in this thread are still relevant, however.

sub, when you do have a chance to do some more troubleshooting on this, feel free to let me know. I'll backup my current config and be more than happy to bang things around.

When you get a chance, please install this patch on the server, then reproduce the problem and repost the logs. It adds some additional messages in the area your server seems to be encountering problems.

Hi sub, after about a week at 2.5.5 with no crashes, I updated to 2.5.9.

It didn't take long for the first Live TV freeze to appear afterwards.

Logs w/ that patch attached.

EDIT:note 2 tuners were in progress at the time. Only one froze, and I don't know what the other client was watching (the one that froze) but I was watching BBC which is still working.

Thanks!

And another set. 2nd client was watching NiKHD. Sorry on this one, I missed crabbing the client log.

....and again. NikHD.

I just noticed I forgot to update this particular client to 2.5.9 and am getting identical freezes on it to the 2.5.9 client two posts ago (my first with your patch). Perhaps pointing to more of a server issue, I suppose.

WHEW! Crashing so much, I can't post fast enough! *lol*

This is the client I was watching, WPTZ. Logs attached. Definitely 2.5.9 on this client.

Okay, that's it for now. Another crash after only 1 hr 45 minutes back at 2.5.9 but I think the logs above will suffice for now. I surrender and am reverting to 2.5.5 again. Wink

I haven't looked at the logs yet, but were any of them with only one client in use at the time? There is too much noise in the logs with two clients, making it too difficult to look at.

Unfortunately it looks like all those have two clients going. When you get a chance, can you reproduce it with a single client? Its more likely I'll be able to follow the logs.
