2.5.9 with Hauppauge HDPVR black screen

I am using an Hauppauge hdpvr it works fine with mediaportal but I thought I would try out npvr instead.

SchedulesDirect was able to populate my list, the Hauppauge IR blaster is able to change the channel, but I just get a black screen during live tv.

could someone look at the logs and tell me what is wrong? I installed newest drivers for the Hauppauge, I did the softpvr wintv7 64bit bat script. I also installed some codec package recommended on another post to fix a bunch of errors to do with codecs.

Try changing the video decoder.

changing the decoders did not do anything. The file in c:\temp, shows as 0 bytes. the other noticeable thing is npvr does not "start" the hdpvr itself. it is sending the channel change through the hdpvr but it does not seem like it starts it when you initiate live tv.

There is no errors in the logs. The logs show it trying to use Component video, with SPDIF audio. Is that what you're intending to use? If you're trying to use RCA audio, then the HDPVR will be sitting waiting for SPDIF audio to start before it's encoder starts producing anything.

I set it to rca back, but it keeps changing it to spdif.

just tried mediaportal again, it works fine, so as you said maybe some reason the spdif is causing the problem, but for the life of me, it does not seem it is staying set in the settings.

Delete the channels, set the inputs to RCA, then create your channels. Each channel stores a copy of the settings at the time they were created, since you might want to have different channels with different input options. For example, you might want some channels over Component+SPDIF from a cable box, and some channels over SVideo/RCA from a satellite receiver.

Okay I did as you said, I do get sound now, but no picture so I guess its a codec issue. gonna be interesting figuring out what codec to use .

Yep, that'll be down to the H.264 decoder. I recommend the Microsoft or Arcsoft one.
