I have a number of saved recordings, when i see these in XBMC, i thought i would delete a few i didn't need, the first one i delete removed the recording (as expected), however it also deleted the reoccurring schedule i had setup as well.

So i am left with all the rest of the recording and no schedule to record anymore.

XBMC seems very primitive with regards its timer recording options.... Sad
Many Thanks
Ashley

This was a bug fixed in the NShared.dll patch listed in the sticky XBMC thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...XBMC-addon

Yep. You'll pretty much need to do your scheduling in NextPVR or NEWA. XBMC should be fine as a playback client though.

Thanks for the heads up on the patch for recordings.

Do you think there's any plan in XBMC to do more with timed recordings? at best this looks like a playback client only (which is a shame), however with Raspberry Pi being $35, it should make an MVP look like 80's technology, although playback only at this point is all i am looking for.

Personally i prefer the NPVR front end, more flexible.
Many Thanks
Ashley

Personally i prefer the NPVR front end, more flexible.

they are working on more advanced scheduling options but there is a bit of a debate about how.

basically they want to have a unified frontend for any pvr backend, so if you swap backends the end user should be able to use xbmc pvr features without noticing it.

but different backends have different rules for recordings, eg 4therecord has an auto expire after so many days (i loved this feature, wish nextpvr had this).

so its a debate between

1. making scheduled recordings the same so each backend would allow a certain set of rules. this would limit a few backends.

or

2. each backend can define their own set of recording options, so a more advanced backend can offer more features. this has the negative effect of making each backend having different frontend gui and requires more development for each backend addon.

doubt these will make it into frodo final though, thats only a few weeks away i believe.

Maybe have a look at X-NEWA. It extends the NEWA scheduling EPG and playback functionality to your XBMC client.
