Installed NPVR 3-4 weeks ago to replace WMC7. All has been working ok except one relatively significant issue. The issue is that the EPG does not update and with this the scheduled recording also dont populate. The only way i seem to be able to get this to work is by checking each channel group in Live tv which in turn updates the epg. problem is this doesnt update the scheduled recordings list. I then seem to have to do an EPG Epdate from within channels. Is there any way to fix this or automate the EPG update? I dont watch live tv on this machine. Npvr's function is to simply record episodes that i watch via a media player.

Does setting EPG Update Hour on the Settings --> Misc2 tab do what you want? http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...tion.Misc2

Mines already set to 2 hours. Only diff is my tv guide minutes is set to 180 minutes. What does TV Guide Minutes refer to? I cant find a definition on the wiki? Ive noticed that the guide seems to dissapear quite quickly. That is i can do a update to it by viewing each of the channels. I check and i seem to have data for at least 4-5 days. I check a few days later and the guide is empty again and along with it all the pending recordings. Its like the guide is being overwritten with empty data or something. Any ideas?

Maybe try turning off 'update dvb epg during live tv' on the Settings->Misc screen, then hit 'update epg' on the Settings->Channels screen.

If in the morning it's gone again, then post your nrecord.log and I'll take a look.

You have configured EPG to be updated at 2am, not every 2 hours.
Maybe your PC is off every night, so nothing has been updated.
Just change it to update at a time when your PC is most likely be on and unlikely to have an on-going recording because updating EPG will break a recording.

If I'm not wrong, even if you are using manual recurring recordings, you will still need to update EPG for the manual recurring recording entries to update the pending recording entries.

PC is on 24x7 so time of day the scheduled update t due to occur doesnt matter. It just doesnt seem to be updating the EPG at all unless i actually go in an watch each channel group which seems to re-populate the EPG for a while. Even though thr EPG does repopulate it appears the pending recording's list shrinks within a day or two until i press "Update EPG" under channels. What exactly does that "Update EPG" do as opposed to an over the air update i get when i watch the tv channels.

Yeah i read that but it does not really elaborate on what it does. Does it mean it only updates 180 minutes of the EPG or only show 180 minutes?

TV Guide Minutes means that the Guide displays 3 hours of programs on screen and has nowt to do with EPG updates. The EPG Update Hour is saying that EPG updates should occur at the hour shown ... 2 in the morning in the first screenshot snippet above.

There have been posts here about problems with over-the-air updates that conflict with recordings. Check that the EPG Update Hour is set so that the EPG update is happening when no recordings are happening and then post the nrecord log showing the time that the EPG update should happen (and mention the time in the post to save us wading through pages of log).

A while back some of us had days when the EPG had gaps in it. Doing a manual update seemed to give a full EPG for most people so does that work ok for you. Running EPG overnight update several hours later cured it for some people and scheduling the update in a batch file cured it for others. Another option is EPG Collector which downloads the broadcast EPG into an xml file so you can check if the broadcast data is at fault. To help diagnose the problem you could switch several channels to get the EPG from the xml file to see if the amount of EPG data is different. The method use to build up the EPG data from the various MUX is different to NPVR which may cure the problem

I'm having similar issues to the problem described here. The EPG guide seems to be always empty. A manual update will populate the EPG, but the automatic downloading doesn't seem to be working. Any idea how to fix this? I'm using XBMC, so it would be nice to have the backend 100% working.

Awesome work on development, btw.
