looking in gbpvr folder there is no file-PostUpdateEPG.bat. There is a file called PostProcessing.bat though.

Also, i hate to change topic now, i tried a sample schedule with scheduler. It scheduled everything perfect. gbpvr main screen shows recording soon shows pending. when time comes to record nothing happens, the main menu continues to show recording soon and never records the shows after time. gbpvr shows the recording as failed.
if i go into gbpvr orignal recordings menu and click update and resave, it begins to record. Also, if i restart the recording service it begins to record the scheduled show.
i listed out some questions to make this easier, they are the following:

1) Do i need to create a "PostUpdateEPG.bat" in gbpvr directory?

2) Or is the "PostUpdateEPG.bat" file located else where?

3) Or is the PostProcessing.bat file the one i add "PriorityRecording.exe > recording.log" too?

4) Why are my cdk scheduled shows not updateing with the gbpvr service? they report a failed recording.

5) Why when i restart the gbpvr service they record as scheduled.

1) yes if it is not there
2) it should be in the gbpvr directory
3) postprocessing runs at the end of each recording postupdateepg after the epg is updated.
4 and 5. I am not sure. Maybe post in support for jrock. You are not changing the capture source or anything like that. The other option is the recording service does not reload very often so if you are doing something that is going to record soon it might not work. Sub is adding an interface for the next release to force it to update.

4/5. All cdk is doing is updating the GBPVR database. Then recording service does all of the recording. There is no good explanation why this is happening

This is interesting, i got everything to work in harmony now. I'm posting this in case anyone has similar trouble as i did or if someone can explain why i had to do this. Here goes...

Reading above my situation CDK was working as it should but when the pending time came to record, it never started recording. After the scheduled time it would state the recording failed. I ended up editing the "PostUpdateEPG.bat" file by placing a service restart after the priority run and log. Here what my PostUpdateEPG.bat looks like:

PriorityRecording.exe > recording.log

restart.bat

My GBPvr works like a charm now with my edits. If anyone knows why i had to do this or has a better idea pleeeese let me know. I dont know if my restarting the service every night after the EPG download will impact something later on.

Thanks to Jorm and Jrockintuitive for their help....

hopefully in the next version sub is going to provide a hook to cause the recording service to reload its recording list. that would eliminate the restart.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have a similar question to the original post. I to am new to GB-PVR and am loving the program, but I am looking for more versatility in the scheduling. From reading the forums and the wiki it is my understanding that in order to use CDK to schedule recording I must edit the xml file and manually enter the programs I wish to have recorded on a schedule instead of using the GUI to schedule the recordings. Is this accurate and if it is not can somebody please explain to this poor n00b what I’m doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

If you use xrecord and go to schedule you can manipulate the cdk xml without editing the file manually. Or you can use the guide2j plugin (tv guide replacement)

Thanks, I installed xrecord and guide2j and I didn't see the option I'm looking for, perhaps it's not there, or perhaps I'm doing something wrong. What I'm looking for is to record only new episodes, no reruns. I noticed in a sample priority recordings xml file there was an entry for new episodes. Do i need to add that line of code somewhere for it to appear in the GUI?

you will not really find a no reruns. What you will find is rectracker. It keeps track of every show you record and will cancel anything you have already recorded. Comes with xrecord just add the purge line to postupdateepg.

OK, I'll do that. Do I need to keep xrecord, guide2j, and CDK installed for rectracker to work properly? And I suppose I will post in the wishlist forum for a new episode only feature to be added to a scheduler. Thanks for all the help Jorm.
