Yes, you're right, apparently if the hang comes from a driver call that particular NDigitalHost is going to be stuck and there's nothing you can do about that one. It'd be nice though if NRecord could recover from that situation and continue recording on the remaining tuner devices. This is off-topic though... I'll post logs next time I get a problem like that and we'll see if there's anything you can do with it.

I don't completely understand these last posts. What do you mean with "on the remaining tuner devices"? Do you mean another tv-card? That would be of no use to me since the other card I have is analog.

Is there a chance of a solution for my problem? Or can't it be fixed? And why isn't mediaportal having this problem if it's a newcs/acamd problem?

I think what johnsonx42 is talking about is unrelated to your problem.

Okay. Then what about my problem? Can it be solved? Do you need more info?
What can I do?

Frankly, I don't think it is a NewCS/Acamd problem since I'm seeing the same with my HW CAM.

IMHO, the fact that Mediaportal with the same newcs.exe and the same acamd settings has no problems with the changed ecm-codes during recordings, suggest the same in my opinion but I'm not the expert here. I hope Sub can shed some light on this.

To be honest, I have no idea what to suggest. The app shouldn't need to know or care about things like ECMs. This is specific to the encryption system, and shouldn't be all taken care of in the multidec plugin.

Unfortunately I'm not well placed to investigate things right now though, given I'm on the other side of the world from my development PC.

If you think you know what time of day it happens, you could get a short recording before and after, so we can check if the audio/video and others pids have changed, which is sounding more likely to be the source of your problem.

Sure. Shall I record 1 minute, 2x? Both short before and short after the time of the problem?

A minute or two would be fine. Yes, before and after the time of the problem.

Got the problem solved.

Last year when I started to have these problems (partly caused by the epg-update-crashing-the-recordingservice-bug which I didn't know of at the time, partly because of the buggy newcs after windows boot), I tried Mediaportal. I didn't like it so I uninstalled it. I probably uninstalled only the frontend, not the tvserver so it was still grabbing epg-data every couple of hours. I found out, because a few days ago I reinstalled Mediaportal and after uninstalling (this time entirely) the problem was gone.
I'm glad it's solved, but do I feel stupid! (again)

For those having problems with newcs not always starting correct after windows boot, I have made a batch file that takes care of it. PM me, if you need it.
About the epg-update crashing the recording service: Sub, I think Mediaportal just skips it when a recording is in progress. Would that be diffucult for you to implement in NPVR?
