Try setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR\CombineMPEG1AC3=1 (DWORD)

Hi sub, from what I have read, the registry setting will only help with the ac3 & mpeg1 combination??

Can the same thing be applied for he-AAC & mpeg1, as long as there is a decoder loaded in he-AAC that will handle mpgeg1 ??

Cheers chris

+ 1 - I am now using LAV Audio Filter for all Audio - with A/V sync disabled in the codec settings it is almost OK, just occasional stutters when the screen is mainly one colour or using fonts (Titles etc.)
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I'm not sure that did anything. With that setting it still seems to build a graph with 2 instances of AC3Filter just like before. I thought maybe I was supposed to disable the MPEG1 decoder in Settings, but then I had no audio on analog channels. I haven't tested enough to see whether the audio still skips/stutters, but there's no indication I can see that this did anything. Yes, I did exit NextPVR.exe and shutdown the recording service before making the registry change, and restarted NextPVR.exe after making changes to any decoder settings.

Here's a livetv graph with the registry setting and both AC3 and MPEG1 decoders enabled:

Unfortunately no. The only decoder I've found that could do this was AC3Filter. Other decoders like LAV did not like it. AC3Filter is AC3 or MPEG-1 only.

It's been a while since I tried this. I might have broken it since then. I'll check it out a little later.

Hi Sub

So as far as the issue goes with HE-AAC & MPEG1, is likely to be a NPVR problem for you to sort @ some stage, or decoders ???

Seems odd that live TV is effected, but a recording from the same source, and using presumably the same decoders is OK?? What's different in how the program handles the stream. From my (very) basic understanding, they should be the same, as the file on the disk is exactly what comes off the tuner??

happy to help debug if you have anything to trial... As a note, I have all LAV for decoders as well, so maybe is able to handle whatever is thrown at it with the newer releases??

Cheers Chris

As discovered in the other thread, I accidentally had a space in the value name. I've now corrected the registry value to "CombineMPEG1AC3"=1 (dword), but it still doesn't seem to do anything. The log still shows it hooking up 2 copies of AC3filter, and the choppy audio remains. I can eliminate the choppy audio by disabling the MPEG-1 audio filter, but then of course I lose audio altogether on analog channels.

If you have a moment, could you check the code and see if the setting is still active? Also, am I supposed to leave both AC3 and MPEG-1 set to AC3filter, or am I supposed to leave one or the other disabled?

From memory, it still hooks up the decoders for each, but it directs MPEG1 to the AC3 decoder. So, you should be able to set the MPEG1 decoder to 'disabled', and still get MPEG1 audio from the AC3 decoder (if you're using AC3Filter and this registry setting is set).

Did exactly that. No audio from MPEG1 channels.
