Guide does not show listings from xmltv.xml file

Hello all.

My new NPVR installation won't show the gude details from my xmltv.xml file. The xml file was created using MC2XML and I can open the xml file and see all the channels and show details. However, when I manually update the guide, NPVR displays 'no show details' for each channel and time slot in the guide.

I've emptied the EPG and updated EPG several times and the guide still shows 'no show details'. I've searched the forum and although there was a similar problem reported, there appeared to be no definitive solution.

Anyone have any suggestions about what I'm doing wrong or what I can do to resolve this? My logs are attached.

Can you zip and post your tvguide.xml file?

Have you checked the offending channels are mapped correctly to the xmltv file and channel?

Yes, all channels seem to be mapped correctly.

More info. My TV provider is DirecTV and they have nearly a thousand channels! So the small sample that Whurlston spoke seems to be a woefully incomplete import by the application.

Your EPG file is not being updated. The latest listing ends on 12/17/2012:

If you open the guide and press left until you reach 12/16-12/17, you should see listings.

You will need to create an UpdateEPG.bat and place it in your [NPVR Data]\Scripts folder. The bat file should contain your MC2XML command to update the xml. Here's an example:

I already have an UpdateEPG.bat file placed in the [NPVR Data]\Scripts folder. It was created based on the suggestions in the EPG MC2XML guide wiki.

According to the logs you posted, it's not finding it in the scripts folder:

Thanks for the link. That helped a lot.

I just did a test where I placed the UpgradeEPG.bat file in the Scripts directory, ran the update EPG from Settings > Channels and the log STILL reported 'No C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\UpdateEPG.bat file found' .

The only other file in the Scripts directory is the placeholder.txt file. Would that cause NPVR to abort looking for other files? I've deleted it just in case.

Once you get the batch file working you might also have a UAC issue

It is typically bad practice to store any data files to the "Program Files" folder and UAC might block your account from reading and writing to this folder.
