My GBPVR has been in service for about a week now and I've noticed two problems.

Video decoder: Cyberlink
Audio decoder: Cyberlink
Renderer: Directsound SoundMax

1. In Live Preview mode the video will occasionally 'stutter' for several frames and then pick up. There are no apparent system problems, no one is accessing the system, etc. This occurs a random interval, sometimes as long as a half hour or so other times within a few minutes.

2. In Live Preview mode the video and audio will slip out of sync over a long period. If the system is on the same channel over a period of several hours the video/audio will gradually slip to a noticeable degree. If you exit and re-enter Live TV the video/audio start back in sync and again gradually slip out of sync.

Are you using encoder passthrough?

No, Deinterlacing is set to "none".

Last time I tried it in encoder passthrough I got no audio at all so I disabled it.

OK, fair enough.

Encoder pass through seems to correct sync issues for most people. From what I've seen, I dont think timestamps generated by the PVR cards are accurate unless they pass through the encoder. This may improve in later drivers.

Do you have any idea why encoder pass-through would kill the audio all together?

No I dont. All I can suggest is trying a different audio decoder than the one you're currently using. I have fixed one bug in this area for the next release, which may be related. From memory, it was a problem connecting to the Cyberlink audio decoder?

I have the MPEG Audio decoder and the trail verison of the nVidia audio decoder. I'll try the nVidia and see if it will work with encoder pass-through

I tried the nVidia decoder and with encoder pass-through there is no audio in this case either (unless GB is not actually using the nVidia but is still actually using the CyberLink even though the config was to use the nVidia.

Any idea what causes the video "stuttering"?

Nope, I dont know.

Use the search button to check for 'stutter' and see if anything looks like a possibility.
