Sorry if I leave out something important, this is my first time doing this.

I've got NPVR setup with XBMC Frodo RC3 and Ceton ifinitv tuner, running Windows 7 64.

I seem to be having a couple of different problems playing live TV. In NPVR I seem able to navigate to a channel, it will play ten seconds of audio and then cut out. In XBMC I seem to intermittently get channels, sometimes have it freeze and say buffering (with either no or minimal progress over hours), and sometimes not get video. While the video has been working I have been unable to pause. I assume user error is to blame, but I thought I had read all the guides and set everything up appropriately.

I seemed to be able to get short video in NPVR by changing the decoder settings, but it was still stopping after a few seconds and I didn't really know what I was doing.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I really hope to be able to get this sorted out since I'd love to watch the Pats on this setup.

PS,
I have another, substantially longer XBMC log file, but I am unable to compress it down to size (it only gets to 2.something) and if I split it I can no longer upload it. I don't know if it would be useful, or how you would like to access it.

Sub needs to look into the reason GetDuration is alway returning 2 on these streams, more than 5 people have reported this. Until then, LiveTV won't work in NextPVR, XBMC has trouble with the Ceton files too.

If you are saying the problem is just changing channels, you probably are lucky if you can play them starting for stop. XBMC needs a lot of work demuxing ts files, but they didn't want to change the demux for Frodo. There is talk they will bring in some MythTV demux improvements for the next version that will make this better. There's not too much that can be down on the LiveTV front. There are utilities out there like ts4np that will quickly clean recordings so that XBMC plays them.

If I were to guess, the problem is opening a new channel, either by starting up or by changing the channel. Outside of that the buffering problem seems like it can happen any time. Do you have any advice about decoder settings?

The NextPVR decoder issue won't solve the GetDuration issue. Only sub can diagnose that at this point.

Crud.

One symptom I didn't mention is that occasionally XBMC does not appear to be getting any video signal at all. I can tune to the channel, "watch" but no picture comes up, I can't go to full screen, and the sound keeps playing.

I'd just like to jump in and mention that I'm having the exact same symptoms with the same setup (Ceton / Network Recorder / NextPVR). My logs say "GetDuration returning 195" instead of "2", but I'm assuming it's the same thing.

One notable (?) thing I see in logs is: "Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: size". I cracked open the SageDCT log and found this: "GET_FILE_SIZE no filepath provided". Not sure if that's relevant or not... thought I'd mention it.

bug9999, your error sounds totally different. I suspect you are telling SageDCT to write a file to a location that it can't open for write. Post your NRecord and SageDCT logs and I will have a look.

The symptoms are identical. It does create a file in the directory (and size increases as expected). Recording has always worked but live TV is intermittent at best (usually just a black screen). I have been able to play back recordings successfully in NPVR. Happy to post any logs if you'd like to look. Want me to start a separate thread?

Yes please create a new thread in the Addons forum http://forums.gbpvr.com/forumdisplay.php...and-skins) and I'd be glad to have a look.

I just wanted to check back and add that I am still having this same problem. I updated NPVR today, but that didn't touch whatever problem I had. Sub, any help here? I can post new logs if that helps.
