Even though newa and xnewa support the quality field it's not used for analog hdpvr recordings. I've asked for it before since it would nice.

As you mentioned x-newa it does playback differently then sub;s pvr.nextpvr it tries to read directly from a share or local drive, sub reads from the source and the file is resent by http.

So your saying that i have to setup my recordings via NextPVR to make sure it uses a better bitrate for recording?

The thread has drifted considerably. The bit rate is set in config.xml. It is not based on your quality choice, it is based on some odd logic on how nrecord determines the source aspect ratio.

Agreed Smile...so there is no known way to do what i asked in my OP.
