The best and easiest program guide is Schedules Direct. It costs $25/yr, has a 7 day free trial and integrates perfectly with NPVR. For me, it is worth the $25 as we watch essentially zero live TV. An alternative is mc2xml which somehow gets the info that WMC uses; takes more setup however. Not sure if tit is considered OK from a licensing perspective. Schedules Direct should have your lineup. All you need to know is zipcode.

I dont think that i'll use my PC to watch TV enough to pay for Schedules direct. I have mc2xml but i dont think i have it set to update properly. I tried to look for a program or guide to use Media Center's files, but i dont think it exists. Figured I would try on the forum lol

I've never heard of anyone accessing the WMC guide files. A lot of people seem to use mc2xml, so it should work.

What video and audio decoders are you using in Win 8? Would be good to have a working decoder combination recommendation for US users on 8.

I'm using LAV decoders from CCCP. I assign my channels in NPVR and map the epg... i'll just post a screenshot lol. can you tell me if i'm doing something wrong? I haven't tried a reboot, but i've ended all npvr services restarted but still no program data

(photo was to small)

EDIT: let me attach a zip instead...

EDIT2: Exceeds size limit...

UpdateEPG.bat should be in your [NPVRData]\Scripts folder (default is "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts").
After mapping is complete, hit the "Update EPG" button for force an update (it will also run automatically at the configured time in Setup).

If you still don't get data showing up, zip and post your logs where you hit the Update EPG button.

Nafon Wrote:I don't think mediacom said anywhere that the channels were specifically clearQAM, but my LG TV is advertised as having ATSC, NTSC, and CQAM tuners so i assumed i HAD to use clearqam.
QAM is the frequency modulation used by all North American cable providers (as opposed to 8VSB modulation used by over the air ATSC broadcasts). The "Clear" in ClearQAM just means that the channels are not encrypted... they are "in the clear".

Nafon Wrote:Now that it is working, is there anyway to use the auto-updating .mxf EPG that WMC automatically downloads everyday in NPVR? I had to manually assign every channel in WMC because none of the databases have updated to mediacoms new digital channel configuration.
The only program I've ever known to actually export the guide data directly from Media Center is an abandoned project that only works on MCE XP and Vista. MC2XML will download the very same guide data and from the very same source that Media Center
does, it just means double downloads if you also use Media Center.

Ok nice! Its working now! I was using outdated or incompatible scripts from the wiki so that could have been part of the problem

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....EPGMC2XML

Now i know what you meant when you said it was a nonstandard driver...
I mainly wanted to use WMC's data so i didn't have to remap all of the channels lol
Thanks again!

I had NPVR open on the TV guide screen and noticed this. My GPU makes a squealing noise (coil whine) when the usage jumps up. I noticed the noise and usage graph and looked at task manager and saw that the CPU usage % for nPVR.exe jumped everytime the GPU squealed and spiked. I closed NPVR and it stopped doing it. I opened it up to TV guide again and it didn't do it. Not a problem for me, but it might be a bug. Looking at the times in the logs, nothing happened.

I closed the window at 22:25 and the only log with activity a few minutes before and up until that time was NPVR.log

ndigitalhost-22's last log is from two days ago so nothing there.

The tuner is supposed to use Radeon HD 4xxx gpus for something, so it probably uses my HD 6xxx gpu.

Make sure you have the directx 9.0c installed http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en It is not installed in Windows 8 out of the box.
It is probably the Graphic renderingthat is causing the cpu spike.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I already have DX 11, but it's not a problem. Just posted it in case it was useful. If threads are marked as solved, this can be marked as such. Thanks everyone! now enjoying live TV on my PC and GNex! (at least when XBMC isn't crashing lol)
