Hi

I have moved from gbpvr to npvr and I think the recording types have changed in some way. Can someone clarify them.

Record once is obvious.
but Record daily , week days, etc, the wiki says that recordings will be made on any of the selected range of days for the given type and "at the set time".
What does "at the set time" mean - does it ignore the program title and just record the timeslot regardless?

The season recording, I selected as I want recordings regardless on their exact timing. But I got none pending.

This leads to a host of queries:
did I get none because I have recordings of the same title but different episode name?
did I get none because they are not NEW but probably repeats from last year or something.

how do I get recordings that may not be a series or just an old series and could be any time of day.

also How do I get the Archive recording popup menu? is there a remove button or keyboard key assigned?

cheers

The season recordings record any show ...

With this name according to the value of "Recurring Match" at http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording
and
That begins in this timeslot where the timeslot begins not more than <TimeSlotMinutes> (from config.xml) before the scheduled recording start time and the timeslot ends not more than <TimeSlotMinutes> after the scheduled recording start time.
and
"Avoid duplicate recordings where possible" is not set in http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording
or
"Avoid duplicate recordings where possible" is set and <DeletionHistoryDays> (from config.xml) has not caused the show name to be in the "RECENTLY_DELETED" table in npvr.db3.
or
"Avoid duplicate recordings where possible" is set and a recording of the show is not in the "Ready" list of "Recordings"

If your show is not recording, it may be because you recently recorded and deleted it.

In the UK, episodes of Big Bang Theory are shown about 70 times per week. I have recorded all episodes from all series by setting "Avoid duplicate recordings where possible" on and by setting <DeletionHistoryDays> to "999" and by recording all episodes on all channels at any time. I get only one copy of each episode and NextPVR remembers an episode that I have deleted (for three years) and doesn't record that episode again.

Aside: login times out to quick - now typing this for the second time Sad

I could be confusing recurring and manual recordings settings.

I set the recurring for "Agatha Christies Poirot" and the episodes I expected have not need recorded previous although I have some other episodes. I was execting to get the episodes but they were probably not at the same time.
If I want say at any time there used to be that option as a recording type but that seems to be missing.
Did you just make the time slot the whole day? I seem to be missing the previous "at this timeslot", "at any time", and "any channel" type options.

Is the "Match Start Of Title", matching the title rather than title and episode OR is it matching n characters. so for a recording of "The two ronnies" I will get everything starting "The"?

I can't find the archive popup menu - does it need enabling or something?

To specify a Manual Recording is to specify a recording using the time and not the name of the show. A Manual Recording will will record from 7pm to 8 pm on BBC1 no matter what show is on. A "season" recording will record Doctor Who on BBC1 when Doctor Who starts between, say, 5pm and 8pm.

The "All Episodes All channels" record option for season recordings records without regard to timeslots.

When I click on a recording, the Details popup appears and has "Archive" in the menu on the left of the popup ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ings#toc11

Sorry I confused manual and the season settings - I have found the season, all this channel and all channels.

However I'm not sure why the recording didn't work - if I set "all episodes on this channel" does it use the rules for avoiding duplicates or is that only applied for "NEW episodes on this channel"?

I don't have archive on the menu - I have unwatch ! I guess there is some position of watching where the archive will become active - is there a parameter in the config I can tweek as I set a large post padding and so never watch to the very end.

Yes "all episodes on this channel" will avoid duplicates if this info is available in your EPG source.

"NEW" episodes isn't about duplicates, but rather picking up shows that are marked as 'first run' airings. It's more of a North American thing where this info is available in the EPG data.

Do you have multiple recording directories set up? It'll only list the archive option if there is somewhere else to move the recording to.

Yes

fluffykeith Wrote:I don't have archive on the menu
The number of folders in Settings --> Recording must be greater than one so NextPVR has somewhere to archive to ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording

Thanks for the clarification, sub

yep - I only had one recording directory.

So I guess the "NEW" episode recordings won't work here in the uk unless I do some updates to the xmltv guide.
