It does freeze here on my laptop client with only dvb-c devices as well. Are you closing in on the problem or do you need additional logs?

HI, I was getting client freezes with DVB-T.
This is probably completely useless and unrelated but; Having just read through some of the latest posts on this, I do notice talk about deleting the live TV file cropping up. My live TV files never get automatically deleted, I've always had to do it manually once in a while. For the last few days I was getting live tv crashes even though I'd rolled back to 2.5.5. It turned out my live drive had filled up, but the failure mode was very similar to what's being discussed, so just wondered if there was a link - maybe NPVR is trying to delete / roll over the live tv file while its being used, resulting in a failed stream and live tv files being left behind????

After reading fuzzweed's post, it occurred to me that I had also seen Live TV files that didn't get automatically deleted. I've switched back to 2.5.5 and not used Live TV in over a week except for testing, but sure enough there are several Live TV files left over.

And this looks a bit suspicious, 3 files that look consecutive but the middle one is zero bytes:

Since it's been over a week, I can't be sure what was going on, but I'll do some more checking and see if this occurs again when a failure happens.

Sub, any chance you can block whatever is causing this (it just happened again) It ruined watching the end of a game. It was using proper live tv streaming.

Martin, I'm just starting to take a look at this again. Hopefully you've got some time to take a look?

I think we need to focus on the very first thing we notice going wrong, because the other problems you see later in the process may just be symptoms of your original problem. The cause of the problem still isn't that clear to me, but I think the first problem was the server starting with rolling file vs no-rolling file. Assuming you're using the built in capture device (HDPVR, ATSC/QAM/etc), then live tv should always use a rolling file.

What would you prefer to test with - HDPVR or Digital device? I have slightly different steps depending on which will use.

Sure I can do this, nothing to record right now. I can test whatever you'd like. I feel most hangs are not related to the direct streaming mode.ut ATSC is fine if that is easier for you.

Did you mean to say 'Digital' streaming?

If so, I'm happy to focus on HDPVR.

No I meant think I have more hangs that are not related to it going to non-slip file mode. Going into non-slip mode happens after a hang.

I recently tried client live tv here on a QAM channel, it ran fine for awhile but then the client froze. If you post some patches I'm happy to give them a try.
