Anyone have any experience with this box running as a client?

Yes.

I have the same client, but with the single core Atom (230), ION Graphics. GUI response is a bit slow, but it get's the job done.

xbmc is quite responsive on my Atom 230 / Ion running Windows 8. Navigation and playback are smooth.
