Do you know if one can have this feature working on 'other' backends?

Sorry Martin, just noticed something...correct me if I'm wrong however can I use NEWA to watching in-progress recordings? If yes then this is a solution for me at the moment....

You can watch them from Videos or X-NEWA if you have a direct link via a matching filename (including advancedsetting.xml if needed)
From dushmaniac's and FernetMenta's posts it seems like no backend is supported but I am not sure. Martin

Okay, just to ask simply....I have X-NEWA installed on my XBMC and it works no issues with recorded TV and Live TV, so if I wish to watch a in-progress recording it will work where XBMC's plugin doesn't?

No it is not a simple as that. From a local machine it will work fine because x-newa will be able to play the file by filename not http. On a remote machine you need to play from a share or possibly path substitution http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Path_substitution to map them.

Cool, I think I have that set up when we tried to get the EDL files working (for Comskip)
I'll need to have the correct share/path substitution set on each PC I have in my network?

I thought we did too, so if edl works in-progress should work. In-progress edl does not reload though.
