If I waited for this I'd still be on GB-PVR, it's a pretty minor annoyance for me, and I watch a lot of live tv.

Of the XBMC releases 2.6.2 is certainly the best.

Just to post my experience, I am on NPVR 2.6.2 which includes the NShared.dll patch posted in this thread (as far as I know) but since I am having the timeshift issue I replaced my version with the one posted here anyhow.

I am on XBMC 12.2 which includes version 1.6.4 of the NVPR XBMC addon using a HDHR Prime tuner and I am having the issue as reported in this thread, but aside from the timeshift folder getting full and the occasional lack of available tuners due to a bunch of things recording all the time things worked pretty well - channel changes were smooth, EPG worked well, etc. I didn't even notice the timeshift issue until I ran out of tuners a couple times and when poking around I noticed my hard drive was almost full.

As sort of a last ditch effort I decided to update my 12.2 release to the "Margro" release which supposedly has improvements for speeding up channel changing in XBMC and his release also has version 1.6.5 of the NPVR plugin which lists a fix for the timeshift issue in the change log.

For anyone interested the "Margro" XBMC versions can be found here: http://www.scintilla.utwente.nl/~marcelg...html#frodo

Not only did this also not fix my timeshift folder issue, but it also made it so that XBMC totally freezes any time I try to change channels.

Since that was no good I downgraded back to the original 12.2 "non-margro" version and the 1.6.4 NPVR addon which comes bundled with 12.2 and I was still unable to switch channels without XBMC freezing. It should be noted that despite XBMC not playing the channel I switched to NPVR was still recording it as was evident by the existence of a timeshift file for the channel I switched to an a tuner in use. The new channels timeshift file quickly appears and disappears but the previous channels timeshift file always remains there.

Anyhow, I am now back at the original configuration, including the copy of NShared.dll which is bundled with NPVR 2.6.2, in which channel changes should work, with the exception of the stuck timeshift files but I can still no longer change channels at all without XBMC crashing even though as far as I can tell I am back to the configuration where it had previously worked.

No idea what I did but my setup is now completely unusable I can't effectively change channels at all AND my timeshift folder will eventually get full.

Maybe tomorrow I will try a fresh re-install of everything because clearly something is lingering between the 1.6.5 nextpvr version or the margro build of xbmc, my guess is the Margro XBMC is what broke stuff and re-installing vanilla 12.2 over it didnt't actually replace all of the modifications but I'm really not sure. Apparently though, whatever changes he is making to speed up channel chaning of live tv is going to make it into a real release of XBMC so if that is indeed what broke channel changes for NPVR it might be worth trying to fix now rather than later.

Attached are some logs of capturing me changing channels and XBMC freezing.

I got my channel changes working again by freshly re-installing XBMC 12.2 and NextPVR 2.6.2!

So through some trial and error, it appears using the 1.6.5 NextPVR XBMC addon on any 12.2 version is what breaks my ability to change channels.

I just wanted to bump this thread. Last week, I freshly installed XBMC 12.2 and NextPVR 2.6.2 on a new computer. Everything was so easy and seemed to be working flawlessly, until I started getting error messages that my disk space was low. I am experiencing the problem where the live tv continues to record. Are others still experiencing this problem?

Yes I believe the temp files building up is still an issue.

As a workaround when I run a scheduled task to update the EPG, I also stop the npvr service and delete the temp files from c:\temp and then restart the npvr service.
