This has happened again with "All New Modern Family" (why do they insist on messing up the titles of these shows with "All New"?!?). A 10 minute recording two weeks in a row. System wasn't being used for anything else at the time. I have deleted and recreated the recurring recording to see if that makes a difference.

sub Wrote:I can only really see two possibilities, either your device lost it's signal lock at 10 minutes into the recording (weather or something), or TV3 changed something about the broadcast stream midway through, like changing the audio/video PIDs. If it is the latter, its not a very easy sort of problem to investigate, and will probably mean needing to capture a full transport stream from the The Unit for closer analysis.

Sub if we try to go down this track, what do I need to do? If you gave me a patch or something that would capture the information you need, could you limit it to just capturing that info on TV3 recordings (to save space) perhaps? I don't record a lot on TV3. It isn't the end of the world but it's getting a bit frustrating and I imagine you would like to get to the bottom of it as well? I'd be happy to give you access into my system, if that would help too.

If you create c:\temp, and set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR\RecordFullTS=1, then whenever its recording a channel it'll also store a full copy of the data coming from the device to your c:\temp directory. Be warned these files are big, so you'd need a significant amount of free disk space, and will probably only want to selectively turn it on around shows that you suspect might have problems.

If the c:\temp\full-xxxxxxx.ts also stopped growing when your recording stopped, then the device stopped delivering any data. If the full-xxxxxx.ts kept growing, but your recording stops growing, then something about the stream has changed, and we can see what exactly inside that full.ts file.

Do I need to restart the service or anything after making this registry change? I will setup a scheduled task to toggle this on and off around the tv3 recordings, and use junction.exe to redirect c:\temp to a large hard drive.

It's probably best to restart the recording service when you change this setting.

I just found there are multiple instances of channel 3 available, each with a different SID. This is connected to a satellite dish. Any clues what this is all about? Any thoughts on whether using different one might be the answer to my problem here? I have a screenshot but it isn't uploading sorry.

I have added one of the others to my system, created some recordings and moved a few regular TV3 recordings to this new channel. See what happens. Haven't got around to setting up a hard drive to receive the full recording info.

From my understanding all they are are regional variations ie. they have different adverts (which for PVR users who gives a #$%^) apart from that they are identical
